She's a little rough and will need some lovin to get back into proper shape, this is my first tuber. Just got it today.

Exhaust is cracked/broken in a couple of places, muffler (original got lost) is not a pretty thing at all. Forks are leaking oil, rear shock feels like a flexi-flyer bouncy thing. Yeah, it's pretty bad. Paint is pretty rough, carb needs cleaned to idle properly.

Handle bars are off something weird, no idea for sure where they came from. I think it's an X1 fly screen, the tach conversion was "in progress" when I got it, but there's no tach yet.

I may just go for the S2 look instead if I can source the windscreen and fairing for a little better wind protection, not sure just yet which way I'm going with it.

Tires are also in need of replacement.

I had seen it in the ads. Glad to see that someone got it.

I'm also going on the assumption the bodywork is fiberglass? Several places are cracked, so it will either get replaced or repaired if I ever get time to learn how to repair it.

I think it's really plastic, roto-molded plastic, not fiberglass.
I've epoxied plastic on the backside with a little fiberglass net patch to help hold it together.
Looks like an ok bike, as long as the price was right.

All of the bodywork is plastic. Tank is roto-molded. Front fender and flyscreen should be injection molded. Tail section is likely vacuum-formed.

I don't recall the M2 tail sections being injection molded but every once in a while the small details slip my mind...

Welcome to the tuber community Dean! Let me or my brother know if you need some parts. There's some M2 stuff laying around here.

I picked up an S3 spider for the fairing, so that's the route I'll go. Ordered tires, fork seals and some other doo-dads, ehxaust will get built eventually. It won't pass inspection the way it sits and I'm on a short time frame to get it operational. Tires and seals will be here next week, so the following Saturday will be a partial repair day. Carb cleaning will probably happen then as well since it won't idle without the choke.

I guess I'll be looking for the switches, both sides. Need/want stock handlebars, I have grips and a master cylinder. Need a clutch perch, I assume some of the XB stuff will fit?

I guess I should have specified to fit the s2/s3 fairing on the handlebars. I don't know a lot about these yet, so cross referencing stuff is still an adventure for me.

For a S3 fairing I believe the X1 bars were the same. If you want a more upright position the S3T bars would be good and are the same as a blast from what I've heard. I also have a clutch perch. Send me or Tom a list of what you need. Can work a package deal! : )

New rear shoe installed today, would have done the front as well but I hit a pretty large rock or something Wednesday on my XB and damaged the front tire and rim, so the tire got installed on it instead.

The hit's just keep coming.
Guess I need the speedo and eventually the tach shell on the back.

Found this today.

Yep, it's a tin can. Pretty sure that's not stock.

I like the can... just should have used a "race can", in aluminum !

I love the can, too! ABSOLUTELY CLASSIC!

I'd either frame it, or put it on the shelf with the other offerings to the god of speed...

Funny fix, I don't know if I love it or hate it. A mixture of both I think...

How on earth did the PO loose / break the speedo bucket in the first place though?

I'm not sure who did it or how long it was like that, I don't want to point fingers here. I got an email earlier about possibly having the original cup and seal in with some other parts, I didn't look yet. I also got all that other M2 stuff in yesterday, so I've got a whole mess of parts that need cleaned, stripped, repaired and then painted, as well as other NOS parts to install. One thing I'd like to find more info on is the updated shifter, possibly X1 style. The one that's currently on the bike flops all over the place, so I assume the bushing is pretty worn. It also does a slow grind going into gear no matter how fast or slow you push the shifter down. I guess the primary chain needs adjustment some?

I also got a dented/rashed stock pipe that's in better shape than the one on the bike, so that's getting installed soon as well. I'll try popping the dent and cleaning it up some prior to installation. I noticed the headers are made a bit differently than XB's were. The flange looks like it's expanded and then rolled over a little, the XB headers have that part just welded on, it's a bigger piece of tubing slipped over the actual pipe.
I'll end up building an exhaust for it eventually, but I am doubting that it will look exactly like stock. The headers are actually pinched down a bit at the 2-1 merge, the ones I build for XB's are not. I wish I had taken a pic of the inside of it last night. I just don't see that as a good thing in regards to flow. It's actually got more of a D shape to it once it's pinched down.

...maybe the "speedo can" was part of a ratbike look, if it was run without a flyscreen for a bit.

Does the rusted can have clearcoat on it, a la ratrod? ; )

No clearcoat, but I can do that and then sell it. Not sure what it would go for though, but it is a "custom" fitted part.

I don't know what the bars came off of, but the controls are HD and they've gotta go.

That would be it. I didn't have a good pic of it at the time, so the other header is just for reference.

This is what the inside of mine look like, couldn't find this pic the other day.

So this is what it had on it for the headers and mmmm, pipe.

This wasn't an option to even keep on it, it's cracked in several places.

Oddly enough, this wasn't all that loud.

This will eventually get replaced with something I build, but it may be a while yet. It was too good of a deal to pass up for $25 though, so it's on the bike for now.

I built this for my 1190 RX a little while back, but since it was just a test pipe, I figured I'd re-task it to a better use.

It still needs mounting tabs welded on, but essentially, that one will work just fine for me.

I dropped the idle a little bit, I do believe the primary chain is a little out of adjustment and may need a new shoe. It's awfully noisy.

That old pipe almost looks like it could have been a thunder header at one point.

It was a stock one, or at least extremely similar to the one I just put on.
