What do you think....if Evel was presented a 96 S1 Lightening to jump...back in 1973....
Would He have done it? He used mostly the XR type bikes, but would He have done what tuning He needed to do...on a "Tuber"???
I believe He would have loved it!!!

I think that would be very cool. But also, that the front shock mount would have torn off of the case, spilling oil everywhere on one of his mega wheelies, much less a landing.

After looking at these pics, taken at Myrtle Beach Bike Week 2005, I'd have to say he'd approved...

Evel S1 2

Evel S1 3

But then again, 'they' do things differently in these parts:

That's some of the baddest paint I've ever seen! Looks sick!

What's up with the buttons on the tail though?

Can't say for sure, but to me they look to be in the most commonly used area for mounting number plates.

I wish I would've had a chance to talk with the owner...

Bubba Blackwell does his stunt show on a S1 - but he does his long jumps on an XR-750. Bubba has recreated every one of Evel's jumps.

My understanding is Bubba's XR's have modern suspension and not the spindly stuff Evil jumped with. Not that this is a put down of Bubba's jumping. Just that Evil was nuts!

I have to, admit....
Having the two shocks, with 4 bolts, as opposed to just the one shock, with two bolts, GREATLY enhances your chance of success. If just ONE bolt decides to snap on your single shock....well....OUCH!!!
The shock "travel" was probably about the same though!!
I didn't know Bubba at times used an S1!!! Where can I find a Vid of that??
