I'm replacing the drag specialties battery in my X1 ME and wanted to know if any of yall have used or know about the AGM batteries that VARTA makes. It's a sister company to Optima who I've used in my street toys for years with no problems. |

Varta's a quality brand. AGM. I've used Red Top 20 racing batteries since 1999. I've had several which lasted not much more than a year or two. The last one I bought new in 2006 and it seems to be doing the job the first one and the rest of the ones which followed should have, but didn't. That would be last for many years. The above said, I would look at something new next time around. Battery technology has moved on apace these past few years, and in particular in the small compact battery area. I'm sure there's even better batteries around now if you're willing to pay the extra. Check out the 16 cell Ballistic Performance Component batteries. They sound impressive to me and carry a 3 year warranty. http://www.ballisticparts.com/products/batteries/b atteries.php Rocket in England |

The stockers from H-D are AGM too. Somtimes for whatever reason, they are cheaper. Same part as sportsters use I think. |

I bought a couple AGM's from (Batterymart.com) and so far have had great luck for the last 2 years. Very nice price also. These were for Buell engines also. |
