Maybe not worse as the roller coming apart seems to really get into everything (from the pictures I have seen)!

Anybody have a spare stock cam set around or at least the front exhaust cam marked 15-4 that has a green dab of paint?

Hey at least the roller bearings didn't frag out and fall into your oil pump.
This looks like it's really fixable here.
Check your oil filter and also tank for chunks.

My '79 ate TWO of its lifter bearings. AMF: built to last (a few minutes)

I have some used stock lifters I got from another badwebber, came from a box of parts purchase, don't need them. If the pin was the problem stock parts should get you by.

Thanks so much for the offer.
Considering the rollers are also a known issue, I'll feel better if I at least use aftermarket lifters.

Decent ones are $150 for the set.
So it is really an exhaust cam that I am after for a cheap and fast fix.

Does anybody know if the cam would still be available from HD?

Unlikely as a Buell part number and the N4/SE bolt ins weren't put in a sporty motor as standard. They were only available as a performance part in the Screaming Eagle catalogue to my knowledge.. Which means you're very unlikely to be able to buy one with the matching colour code.

Shouldn't be hard to find someone with a spare cam and a used one will probably have enough clearance.. Although the colour coding and matching were more for trying to reduce the clearance to reduce noise. The performance ones were usually a looser fit.

I'd be concerned with the lifter bore and you may need to hone it and go with an oversize lifter.

I have some concern for the lifter bore as well.

From what I can see and feel when I push the lifter down all the way - it is fine.

As long as the damage isn't catastrophic I will remove any high spots or burrs and let it go at that.

So where did all the Buell specific parts already in the HD parts system go when Buell was shut down?

i have the same noise you are describing. my diagnosis is the front engine isolator. mine has a tear in it on one side.

will order a new one soon before it gets any worse.

I looked at my iso during my attempt at diagnostics.

Obviously that wasn't it - lol!

Unless I can find a used 15-4 cam I am going to go with the Andrews N6 : )
