I'm securing funds to purchase a westwind, and the rear shock is blown out. Who can rebuild it for a good price, and good turnaround time? | ||

That's not just any old shock. You lose it and you will never find another one. I'm not sure where you'll get seals for it. I would NOT just mail that off, willy-nilly, and hope that it's going to come back working, or at all. From the looks of the photo, you may be sending those parts out for replating after disassembly and before reassembly. You're better off putting a regular tuber shock on it and putting that shock on the shelf until you can find the right person to do the work. Turnaround time and cost are not your factors when it comes to fixing parts on a Westwind. Get that out of your head right now or you will be miserable with it. Just trying to help you get in the right frame of mind.  | ||

No on the blue one. I found a great Sunday cruiser for the same price. It's been sitting, so the motor may need to come out for a complete re seal.... But we will see. Less than 2 weeks from a red 91 and I am super pumped about it.. I tried to let the wife let me buy an rr1000, I've never seen her laugh at me so hard... I don't blame her. I'd be too afraid to hurt it by riding it.... Plus 50k goes a long way in diapers and hospital bills with the new baby. Not to mention I might be uprooting, packing, and re settling in another state soon. My wife is a patient lady. | ||

@Lynrd, if I could get the guy talked down to 2k, I'd be all over it. But he's at least a month away. Maybe a year. By then, someone else with deeper pockets or less frugality will snatch it up. @Dean, do you have any experience with lindeman? @Greg, I just figured it would be nice to get it back quicker than 6 months. Do you know a good shop that can do it? I might have a tuber shock ready for it, so turnaround may not be a factor after all. This Westwind is going to be kept in a rideable condition..... And I intend on riding it at least once a week. Some people cruise in their Chevelles, I want an old Buell. | ||

A guy I ride with has used them several times on his different S2's with the WP's. He has been happy with them and those motorcycles were his only transportation. I did see from their website the founder of the company passed in 2011, so there could be some differences now though. | ||

An R80 G/S is the top bike on my list - even over a RS or RSS I had the use of an R80 G/S (with 1000 cc cylinders) on one of my trips to Berlin, Germany. First time as pilot on the Autobahn! Brings back memories - which I never thought I'd say about a BMW... 1313 | ||

Sorry to mislead. This GS is much less rare. Kalahari Yellow 1100GS. His name is "Snot"  Gonna miss it quite a bit. BMW motorcycles have been a great steed to my stable. But the Buell itch is back, and I gotta scratch it. |
