the plastic in my choke cable broke where the cable clamps up the the bracket... It still works but i have to hold it with 2 hands making it annoying... and it doesnt want to stay in the bracket now too...

im annoyed its plastic and can break. is there an upgrade to a metal one that will last longer?

Honestly it's kinda wired that yours broke IMO. I've logged over 60,000 miles in 8 years (3 years with no miles) and never broken one. I would just replace it with a new stock piece IMO.

They do break. Easy fix, no upgrade I know of. Have to remove the carburetor though.

I've broke a few of them over the many years of working on these things. The ones from Mikuni are made of metal and are a direct replacement. Look for the ones for an HSR42 or HSR40, if I recall which ones will fit.

The part listed for American Sport Bike above is not the choke (actually the enrichener circuit control) cable, it's for idle adjustment.

Rick is planning on a Mikuni anyway, do they come with a choke cable? I thought they utilized the stock choke. My Mik came with a choke but I bought it second-hand, so I figured it was added by the PO.
