All,

My rear base gasket finally gave up the ghost. Are there any special tools required for doing a top end gasket refresh?

I have the usual assortment of sockets, snap ring pliers and a 5-85 ft-lb torque wrench.

I think I've heard I'll need a cut down Allen wrench for the intake.

I'll probably do the piston rings while I'm in there so I'll pick up a hone and ring compressor for that.

Anything else you can think of? Any odd sized sockets (or allen or torx bits) I'll need?

You'll need a cut down 3/16" Allan wrench for the rocker cover bolts.

Don't forget to support the motor before removing the front mount. Take the muffler off and use a 2 x 4 on a floor jack.

I like to support the steering neck with a shipping strap and a six foot ladder.

12 point half inch socket for the head bolts.

I'm fairly certain that an in-lb torque wrench is called out for the lifter base bolts.
