Curious about how difficult this job is and if its something i should tackle or have a shop do it.

get the kits, do you have an FSM?

the job is simple if you have the tools and the place to do the job,
NOTE
all parts are lubricated with brake fluid at assembly..

the correct brake fluid is marked on the cap. for the master in question.

Field Service Manual.

the official service manual from Buell...

Really a good idea to have both it and the parts catalog for any bike you own.

When you get your MASTER CYLINDERS rebuilt here is a tip for you ...

Drain your MASTER CYLINDERS once a year and wipe out with a clean old white T-SHIRT RAG ...

Have 111,819.6 miles on my 97 S3T as of the last ride and have never had to rebuild my master cylinders ...

This applies to your 4 wheel vehicles too ...

"YES", a FSM and PARTS BOOK is the correct answer also !!!

are they leaking or just not performing?
I rebuilt the rear one on my bike along with the caliper because it didnt seem to perform well, fresh rebuild made zero difference. Swapped to a brembo twin.

they are both pretty easy to rebuild though, depending on how handy you are.

Can I buy a FSM online, are they easy to find? Yea the rear master is leaking and the front brake is just bad it's hard to explain. I'll apply the front brake lever and it's almost spongy and it creeks, the front brake works but it's jerky as if I'm squeezing and then letting go and then squeezing again.

You can order one online. Or maybe someone here has one for sale. You may even be able to get a free pdf. What kind of bike is it?

Front sounds more like a pulsing rotor, or if I'm misunderstanding it, maybe air in the line?
