Proud owner of 98 SiW and a '97 M2. Have enjoyed them both but due to a recent stroke, its apparent I can no longer fully enjoy the S1W as it was intended. Soooo, I;m modding the M2 to accomodate my residual physical limitations due to the stroke.

Just curious. What's a reasonable price to ask for an S1W these days? Molten/Nuke, 14.000 miles. Factory race exhaust, ECM, CF ham can, solo seat, cut down cam cover, CF inner fender. Recalled shock and swingarm replaced under warranty. Blistered logo. Excellent running but a paint chip on rear body work smaller than a pencil eraser. About to put new tites on it. Not perfect but still a beautiful hooligan bike.

Sorry to see you might have to sell it. I paid $3400 last October for my 98 S1 not an S1W. Same color and setup but it only has 6000 miles on it. I thought that was a fair price. Bought it from a Badwebber. If you are open to offers, I might be interested.

thanks for responding, Brent. That's why I posted my query here. I figured I would get more realistic answers. If I do sell it I really would prefer tHat it go to a badweber or other true enthusiast rather than to someone who wants to cut it up and make a chopper out of it. I think you're in the ballpark on the price. although if I could ride it like it was meant to be with me I probably wouldn't sell it at any price. Love the SAW that much

Sorry about your stroke, but glad they you still are looking to keep riding : )

I may be interested come summer if you still have it, I have to get back to work, & make some scratch, after a 4 month recovery myself : (

Please keep me in mind if nobody jumps on it before then.

Ride Safe

I suffered a arterial dissection stroke in January of 2012 at age 37. They told my wife that if I lived through the night they doubted I'd walk again. I walked out of re-hab 15 days after the stroke. Physically I'm at about 95% of pre-stroke me, I wear out quicker and my fine motor skills in my right hand aren't quite what they used to be (repeated motions like brushing my teeth, I stabbed myself in the face once...since then thank you oral-b electric). I'm curious what limitations you are left with and what type of stroke it was just for personal knowledge. You can email me if you prefer. btw I own a S1W as well.

Best wishes for a good recovery Dueller.

Really pleased to know of your recovery Harley, and that you got that beautiful CR.

Jim, sorry to hear the bad news. Let's hope for a full, or as close to it as possible, recovery. It's a bummer when anyone has these things happen, even more so with a log-time board member.

Your close to stock S1W should get a fair price should you have to sell it, it seems that the more mods a bike has the harder it is to get it sold. I had two bikes for sale last summer, sold the mostly stock bike (admittedly, it was newer), got a lot of low-ball offers and tire kickers on the modded M2.

Good luck with both your recovery and potential sale of you bike.

All the best for a fast and speedy recovery, Dueller.

A Molten Orange/Nuke Blue S1W has got to be the most desirable S1 that Erik built. Of all the S1's, it'll surely fetch the best price.

Mark my words: Tube frame Buells, especially S1's and S2's, will one day strike the fancy of collectors when they finally realise the quality and significance of these fine motorcycles.

Thanks, all, for your comments and well wishes for my recovery.

A little background. I have been healthy as a horse for years. Cholesterol, triglycerides, etc. had been perfect. Only problem that showed up in my once every 5-8 year physical was elevated BP. Which of course I ignored since it didn't seem to bother me at all. Then about 18 monthes ago my feet swole up with water retention and I was getting congestion and shortness of breath. Docs put me in water pills (lasix) and told me to get my BP down as I couyld be developing congestive heart failure but it wasn't gonna kill me.

late last march, I woke up one morning after spending night at gf's house I awoke feeling awkward on my left side like I had slept wrong. Just a little uncordinated. But I really didn't exhibit signs of a stroke. Spent the morning trying to shake it off and went to lunch. Felt tired so went home to take a nap. When I woke up mid afternoon I was slurring and having trouble using my left arm and leg. Off to ER I go and by the time I was admitted I was completely paralyzed on my left side.

After years of ignoring my HBP, my heart had become enlarged which apparently distorted heart valves which in turn was allow`ing blood clots to form in the chambers. One apparently broke loose and WHAM! Massive right pontine stroke. And test revealed in hospital it wasn't my first. I was only 56.

I'll get off my soap box but please guys, don't ignore HBP. You don't wanna end up with a stroke.

Long story short...after several months of PT I am able to walk again but with limp on left side. Speach is back to normal ( a good thing I guess because I'm a trial lawyer). But I do have difficulties manipulating left foot/ankle to shift. And I have slight balance and vision issues that are exacerbated when tired.

Enoug preaching. Back to Buells. I can ride the S1 but not as I used to. Building my M2 to be a little less agressive, But no clipons or reat sets. Basically doing a bit of a cafe racer/naked bike with nulti use options as I have both old and neww seats/tanks/plastic.

Will post pics for suggestions as all threads are worthless without pics!!!!

AND GO GET YOUR BP CHECKED!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear of your trouble dueller, glad to hear you're mostly on the mend. Could have had a much worse outcome. Out of curiosity, what level of HBP were you running?

Pics I promised. Like I said the S!W is a little agresssive ergonomically so I'm doing a mild "cafe" of my old M2. Its a 97 so I have the slim body work I don't want to cut up. But also have later model M2 seat/tail/tank that I played around with. Always thought later M2's looked "thick " in the flanks so I trimmed the tail a bit:

Using and old slim tank and an old X1 seat I am also fabricating a cafe style seat for a minimalist look:

Obviously haven't decided on paint yet but having fun resurrecting my old "Deuce". My basic goal is to have a comfortable, pared dow Buell with easily changed seats/tanks/tails to get different uses out of the old girl.
