Ok, first off hello everyone I'm new to buell's and recently purchased an x1w with 15k miles, runs good has its quirks but I'm working them out. Anyways I was in the process of doing a xb lightning headlight swap and not sure if I blew something or what but now it won't start. I put the key in the ignition and when turned all the way and run switch turned on it doesn't start, the start button does nothing, the fuel pump doesn't prime only the speedo back light is on, no neutral or oil light, head light not on and doesn't switch to highs. Thought maybe the ignition switch went bad all of a sudden so I unplugged it and bypassed it, same results except now the oil light comes on and the headlights work and neutral light still does not come on (made sure it's in neutral), still does not prime, also if I put the kick stand up and set to run the fuel pump will prime but the start button still doesn't do anything. (It started fine the day before with the kickstand down) I checked all the fuses and they are good, hooked the relays coils to power and they click on. I don't know what else to do, it was running perfect the day before. I have a service manual and browsed through it for an answer and can't find anything that helps. Any input will be much appreciated.

Fuse.

Relay.

Box is located under the seat.

Also check for corrosion in the box and on the pins of each fuse/relay.

If you visually inspected the fuses, you can't always assume they're good. Check that you have 12 volts on each of the test points on each side of each fuse. It's the only way to be sure. I've seen fuses mechanically fail where they look fine, but they're actually cracked and electrically open.

And those ignition switches were known to fail, see if you have 12 volts in and out.

Went and bought a new multimeter and tested the fuses and they are all good and have good connections, funny thing is if I bypass the ignition/starter relays I can get it to start but it seems there is no power getting to the relays to trigger them. In the manual on page 7-9 it talks about checking the diodes and has a diagnostics tree on the next page. The diodes are good and installed the right way however on the tree on 7-10 under "ignition test" it says "check for ground on BK wire of connector" I'm not sure which wire it's referring to, There is no black wire there.

May seem silly, but check the big ground strap between the frame and the swingarm mount. Bad grounds can cause all sorts of problems.

Well I figured it out, the neutral sensor went bad or the connector is bad and the clutch switch is faulty. Those two combined would not let the ignition relay kick on. Where can I get replacements? The service manual was invaluable for this I don't know what I would have done with out it.

You can easily bypass the clutch switch with a paper clip.
