Let me start by saying, I've always loved S2s, and I'm on my second one. I've put over 40,000 miles on them at stock height, but at a standstill they are a little tall. I have to stay on the balls of my feet, which can make it difficult to back into a spot or hold steady at a stop on gravel. So I think I'm going to get another front shock mount and cut/weld it longer to lower the rear. Question is, how much? I only need to lower the rear about an inch to an inch and a half. Would a 1/2" extension of the mount do it? I'm a good welder for all those concerned. | ||

I can measure the mounting hole distance from my factory and west-tek lowering mount tonight when i get home. the west-tek lowers the rear about 1.25" or so. | ||

Al at American Sport Bike can sell you the front mount. You will want to order the 14.7" one (if you have a 16.5" shock) and that will lower your seat/tail end about 1". I've got a 16.5" Penske with a 14.7" front mount on my '99 X-1 Lightning. I looks a little goofy, so one-of-these-days I'll mount up the stock front mount again to correct same! | ||

Are you sure you have a 14.7 mount with a 16.5 shock? I have the rear of my bike hanging right now and moved the swingarm up to simulate that and my tire is just about stuffed into my tail.... here is a stock 16.5 mount against a west-tek lowering front mount. The difference from hole centers is 0.661" +- 0.005", lol   Just went out and put the stock mount on my bike and measured, then put the west-tek on and measured.... roughly a 1.30" drop by moving the front mounting hole back 0.661" | ||

Thanks Marc, that's what I was thinking. I don't want to kill my travel, just want to make it easier to get on the bike. This and pushing the forks up in the trees about an inch should do the trick nicely. | ||

I tried the short mount with the long shock thing on my M2 and couldn't get it to work, like marc said, the wheel was into the frame before I could get there. I had even pulled off the hugger and still couldn't get it. -Mike | ||

sure i heard mention years ago that its 2:1, so add 1/2" to the front mount will give a 1" reduction in height. I made an adjustable front mount so i could touch the floor due to my dissability.  |
