I currently own a '98 S1W, the local bike shop has a '08 1125R with about 8k mileage. I don't have the option to keep both bikes and the guy that I got the S1W from has already stated his interest in buying the bike back if I ever decide to sell. The S1W is a blast for short rides but the seating position and seat itself do no favors in the comfort department. I've looked at the cycle seating position web site and it looks as though the 1125R's seating position will be more of a "tuck" than the S1W. I know some of you guys have both bikes, what are your thoughts on comfort? I'd love to have something that I could ride more than a couple hundred miles without a day of rehab to follow...(think I was better off before I had my knee "fixed" at least it only made noise then) |

I have both and had a CR as well. I'm still trying to figure out how to set up the S1 to be comfortable on my back side for long trips. Other than the seat, it's really not that bad of a ride. The R will be a lot more comfy as far as your butt is concerned. I've not done more than 200 mi on the R at a time so no real complaints with discomfort. It is a lot more comfortable then most sport bikes though. If you are lazy and don't support your self with your core, your shoulders and arms will fatigue after a while. My R is set up pretty much stock as far as comfort items. I mostly rode my CR for ass burners and had that set up for comfort with lower pegs, the dirt bike style bars and a buell tour seat. That thing I could ride all day with no problems. I am 6' with a 32" inseam and pretty outa shape for comparison. |

I would have a hard time getting rid of an S1W. That's one sweet piece of history. |

moot point now, new roof for the house takes precedence as far as missing it and sweet piece of history I agree but which would you all rather have if you could only have one bike, something that you ride because you like to ride it or something that sits in the garage because it's not worth the trouble to ride but is a cool bike...the bike languished in my friends basement from 2003 till 2011 when I bought it...it had 2700 miles on the odo when I took possession...it has around 4800 on it now...I'd love to ride it more but my idea of a ride is not across town. There are some nice roads around here, but honestly I'm to the point where I can't overlook the aches and pains and just chalk them up to the "experience" like I once did. as far as the guys looking to buy a S1W. My friend who I bought the bike from gets right of first refusal. If he doesn't want the bike back it'll be in the classifieds here instead of ebay so that it hopefully doesn't end up "chopped" |

Good point. That's probably why I bought an M2 instead of an S1. |

I've done 500 mile days on my S1W...and felt it. I've done 900 mile days on my CR...and wanted more. I only went home because I had to work the next day. Does the CR compare to the S1W for visceral input? Nope. Is the Loki platform light-years ahead of a tuber for power, torque, handling, and braking? ABSOLUTELY. But keep in mind - 10/10ths on an S1W is...100? 115? 10/10ths on a Loki? You're closer to 160. Easy. It comes down to what do you want the bike to do for you? I'm extremely lucky - I own a number of buells. If I had to own only one...my Ulysses, no question. It's my swiss army bike. If you like the idea of 1125 power but want more comfort than the S1W...find a CR. Get a Buell touring seat for it, or a nice aftermarket seat. I'm 6'4", 34" inseam. Buell touring seat and Ulysses pegs on my CR and like I said...900 mile days - on the blue ridge parkway - are no problem. And a ton of fun |

I agree with rat. I have a CR and S1. I like the cr vs R for the street better simply for the gearing. The S1 I'd the only bike I will never sell. I've had it since new. You will miss it. Mine was apart for about 2 years at one point and I missed it dearly. |

lol I let the wife read this thread and now she's decided that I should keep the S1W and find a CR...she said " happy birthday" She started feeling guilty after reading all the " you'll miss it" posts and I was the one that decided to only have one bike, not her. |

While your buying Buell's, pick up a 2000 or later M2 Cyclone. Easy to go over 800 miles / day. |
