Bought a used Banke shifter assembly. The issue is the rear bolt that the shifter pivots on is too long. There is a 1/2 gap or more between the mount and the shifter when the bolt is threaded all the way in. Are you supposed to use any of the original spacers? Seems pretty straight forward but I cant figure it out....

Can you take a pic of all the parts you have? It might be missing a spacer.

All I have is what is in the picture from the website. Large angled aluminum spacer, 2 bolts, and the shifter.

I could thread it in farther but it is getting resistance at this point. Don't know how deep the threads are inside the trans and didn't seem like forcing was a good idea. Smaller front bolt is fine, just not tightened in pic.

I'd take it out and see if the two bolts show the same amount of thread when the assembly is sitting (assembled) on the bench, to be sure that you have been provided the correct length of bolt.

The bolt in my new banke kit is 6 inches in overall length from the bottom of the head to the end of the threads. The threads start at 4.5 inches from the head base. I've never had this one mounted so I can't guarantee that it fits.

Thanks for the measurements. Overall length matches but my threads start at 4 inches. It is a specialty bolt so I do not think it has been replaced by a different one.

I just pulled the bolt on the banke that is mounted to my other bike. It has the same measurements as what I gave you.

It sounds like you may need to clean garbage out of the depths of the hole.
