My 99 M2 left me stranded for the first time.

I was riding at about 70 when the speedo, lights and ignition started getting erratic. The bike kept going for a couple of minutes but eventually stalled. I coasted to a stop and called my wife to bring the truck.

All the fuses are good, and the the battery shows 12.5 volts but the bike pops the circuit breaker when I hit the start button.

I saw a similar problem reported back in June of 2003 I think, but I never saw the resolution. Any ideas?

Check for a DEAD SHORT (worn insulation to ground) in the starter circuit somewhere. That is something of a lot of ground, but w/a wiring diagram, you should get some ideas. A shortcut would be to go to anyplace in the wiring loom where the wires make a sharp turn. And be sure to look at the switch internals, as a general rule failures can occur there, also. Since the fuses are good, look for a loose/poor connection, starting at the battery connections/cables. Sorry to be soo general and non-specific, but electrical problems are usually like that.
