Hello all, I am the original owner of a 99 S3T with 36000 miles. The bike is stock. The fuel pump and oxygen sensor have been replaced recently. The problem I am having is that the bike seems to surge at constant speed. It doesn't seem to miss, but the power fades. A couple of pumps of the throttle and the bike accelerates, then fades again. Any ideas?

It may be something simple like the intake air temp sensor not being in the correct location.
My X1 ran better once I relocated my sensor to near the intake. (previous dealership meddling moved it off to the side of the airbox out of the way in stagnant air)

I little exhaust leak at the header can confuse the oxygen sensor too. My O2 sensor liked to rub the wire through until I tied it out of harm's way.

Easiest exhaust test:
tap the header with a steel toed boot.
heavy solid thump = good
any sort of rattle = something is wrong find it for great justice!

The REAR HEADER GASKET causes more drive ability problems than anything else !!!

What you need to know is in my EXHAUST SYSTEM Class 101, just PM me for a copy ...
