New subject, got the new to me 2002 Buell X1 and some PO had use black paint and brush and put horrible stripes all over it. I want to get it back to solid white and then find the decals for it. I stripped the black off of it already. Question is, is this painted white, or is it molded white plastic? If painted, what is the recommended paint for it. I want it to look stock.

well if the previous clown used a brush+housepaint, I'll bet he didn't prep the surface either. I bet you could strip that paint off pretty easily.

Oh sorry, I misread your posting.
The bodywork for the X1 is black plastic under white primer.

I know this only because I dropped mine on the highway a few years back.
There are better ways to strip paint than that.

I believe that by 2002 they were using molded in color on the X1.

I thought they only did the molded in color for the XB line?

There is no paint on a 2002 X1.

Should be fairly easy to fix . . . Al, at American Sport Bike, can fix you up with what you need.

Off the subject a bit...

Court, I have been trying to find the code for the Phantom Metallic on the XB section of BadWeB and was told no codes exist.

True?

Thanks for the info. I'll get the decal kit soon and see if it covers the scuffs.

You may be able to buff the scuffs out using a proper polish or wet sanding.
