I've got a '02 S3T w/75k. My local HD shop has quoted me a price of close to $1200 to replace the clutch. $900 for parts, the rest is labor.

If a Barnet clutch kit is under $150, do these numbers makes sense to anyone else out there in Buell land? I love my S3T but this seems way too high........

My guess is they don't want your business, but were too polite to tell you to take your Buell and get out.

That price includes transmission?

Yeah, roughly $1000 too high. Why I do as much work on my own bike as I can. Be interesting to give them an anonymous phone call to check the price of a clutch rebuild on an '02 Sportster.

Anyway, situations like this make it worthwhile to get a service manual, some tools, and check the BRAN for Buellers in your area who are willing to help.

As an aside, what leads you to believe that you need a clutch rebuild? Perhaps an adjustment, new cable? Could be something simple.

I am with the others $1,200 is way too high a number. I wouldn't bother trying to work with a dealer like that...

Just to add to AK's comments, look into getting a service manual, the manual will help you perform some of your own trouble shooting and basic maintenance. And be sure to ask around here too, everyone is willing to help!

Another alternative is to seek out a reputable "bike shop" as opposed to a "McHarley" Dealer.

Heck, if push comes to shove and you have some basic mechanical ability, I will "SKYPE" you through a clutch replacement.

PM me if you would like a service manual.

Good Luck!

This was at Latus? If so, that's kind of shocking.

What else did that include?

Labor charge is not too bad for a dealer but the price for parts if only for clutch, seems way too high.
