So I got a M2 Low seat in decent condition but man is it hard .. they should come with a warning. Anyway I went to put in on and the bolt underneath will tighten down, looks like the threads in the seat are beat. Anyone got any ideas ?

I like the M2L seat. It seems very comfortable compared to a hardtail with solo seat and springs. My M2L seat would loosen up occasionally so I wrapped the threads with teflon tape which helped for awhile but wore out. I then put some shrink tubing around it and that is much better now. I remember some discussion here back when but do not seem able to find it yet.

If you still have your original seat can't you take that part off and put it on your low seat?

Replace the metal thread plate in the seat or if you are handy look at your old one and see if you can bend your new one to match.
Also foam gets hard with age if not used.

I had the same problem. I ended up drilling the whole out a but and put a t-nut on the metal plate.

It is held in using a generous amount of JB Weld Epoxy and has served me well for the last 4 years. I also had to find a thumbscrew type bolt to go with it. the fix cost under $10.

I have a theory that the rivets holding the factory threaded insert into the factory seat pan can be drilled out and replaced with a dzus fastener receiver plate just like the ones used on Corbin aftermarket seats. I know that the spacing of the rivets is correct. Then the original factory "fast lead captive screw" made by dzus should work like new again. I have a small batch of new receiver plates and I actually mailed one to a BadWeb'er to try this but I did not hear back if he ever did it.

I am thinking line parts of the seat with industrial Velcro if that does not work remove the staples and replace the insert threads
