Always scheming, as soon as I can swing it - which isn't now - an injected S3T would be a good thing to do.
Maybe one with the orange frame and billet silver bodywork that needs a little smacking around with the Magic Hammer would be just the ticket to help brighten up my otherwise drab garage.
It's either that or floral print drapes.
Anybody else scheming on their next demented project?

I just rescued a 1995 S2 in July ... It's at a buddies in Tulsa, going to get it home finally in Oct or Nov... Then winter project! Have already sourced the following parts.... New front forks, a set of T - rise bars, s3t bags on an s2 conversion rack, a set of s3t bags, brand new mirrors.... Just waiting for the time to get the bike and get started!

Would love to rescue another s1 and use of the parts in the garage!

Don't suppose this counts.

I've nearly finished (next week if I'm lucky with weather and work commitments) my nearly five year recommissioning of my Minnie Winnie

If you haul your S1 around in it on occasion then yes, that would count!

Rocket,
I'm curious, are there still many Norton Commandos and old Bonnies on the road over there or are they really scarce like they are here?
I see ONE or two per year and that's it.
I just hijacked my own thread, oops!

You'll have that S2 home real soon, that must be driving you crazy having it sitting there.

My first Buell, bought new from the stealership in August 2000, S3, black with the polished PM wheels. She now sits in the garage with a bad crank bearing. Next spring she gets the works. I already have a complete set of bodywork. CF front and rear fenders and other CF bits. Already has a D&D can, race ecm, forcewinder intake, banke shifter and brake. Probably some other bits I'm forgetting. I will then have a running example of each, tuber, xb and 1125. My life will be complete, until EBR comes out with their adventure model!

Funny you should ask -

Todays project - FIBERGLASS DAY! I finally got around to patching up the busted fairing on Rhonda that she has had since she moved to California. I also pulled a negative mold from her tail section to repair her original Orange and White race livery body work, which got busted just below the tail light a few years back. Once I get the touch up painting done, I will have two good, complete sets of bodywork - right now, I don't have one complete matching set without some busted component. Now that she is back from JT+S I am eager to get her all the way back on the road.

Now - the big, long term projects - Two (well, three) running right now:

S3/M2/S1/X1 Frame jig - needed for "Victoria". - This is the big one - My frame jig will allow both highly accurate repair on damaged frames and some major frame modifications for my "Black Lightning" project. This is the big project this winter - hoping to have a showbike read to go for the Cincinnati trade show.

S2 Revival - "Rachel" - 1995 S2 #202. Low priority project as bandwidth allows. I got a good S2 frame from a fellow BadWebber, not much else...but I have a few hard to find spares that make this project possible (oil tank, gas tank, brakes and forks from the Frog, side plates) . I was inspired by Greg_CIFU's "#13" RS1200, and am planning on building a cafe racer with a similar look using XLCR repop fiberglass from Airtech.

When the frame got here I realized it is a very low number, which has left me in a quandry - The low # means that I am committed to not doing anything irreversible to it...but the fact that it has already given all of its components up to some mouth breathing chopper builder means I don't consider her a realistic restoration candidate - by my definition of "restoration", which is about the same as the AMCA definition.

And speaking of AMCA - last project is my '49 Panhead, Rosie, which goes to get her "Blue Tag" from the CHP on Tuesday. She is also not a "restoration" for similar reasons - the engine cases were modified at some point, all mods that make the engine more reliable and streetable like outside oilers and a late model oil pump. That's the sort of thing that would get her docked a lot of points if she was represented as a restored 1949 FL. Instead, she's sort of a tribute to my adopted home town of San Jose, CA - classic lines, but custom paint and styling cues from our lowrider community. She just needs blue tag, then diassemble, paint and reassemble - not a lot of work is left from where she started as a stripped bottom end and crashed frame.

2nd project -

Convert 2004 Triumph Bonneville that is currently dressed in solid black to "Goodwood Green and Azteck gold" paintjob - fairly simple of the planned projects - I have sourced a spare tanks already painted in the paint scheme with a small dimple dent that I bought from ebay for a great price, followed up with scrounging for a few days and located side panels and a rear fender (front fender is chrome) currently with the painter for a matching set of color, then swap tins and store the black for a future rescue bike or.....

Just got an S3 up and running properly after a bit of neglect from a few previous owners.

This one is pretty special as it was put together for Erik's tour of Australia in 1999. It has his signature under the seat and the timing cover has "Erik Buell 1999 Australian signature tour" with his signature etched in the centre of it..

I figured it needed to be got back up and running again. Although it's given me no shortage of headaches getting it there.

3rd project -

the 99 x1 has the eurocomponents fairing kit and part of the kit is a set of clubman style bars that sit in the cradle..they work well and no clearance issues...but I hate the clubman bars on that style of bike - so - I have a brand new set of S2 for legs and a set of true clip-ons that with the longer legs of the S2 forks I can set the clip ons on top of the top triple tree - I also have an S2 top tree so that I can completely remove the cradle for the bars...this project has been a LOOONG time coming, I think I bought the pieces a year ago!...while I am in there the x1 needs the upgraded front exhaust mount and though its not leaking as long as its on the stand it could use the Xb style rocker boxes and a "Baldwin saddle - which means I may have (when???) a corbin saddle for sale with hardly an use...not sure, that Baldwin saddle is a fantastic seat but it will be the last mod to the bike....

Bonneville's in England. Are you crazy man?

All the die hard Brit bike fans died of old age. Our generation hanker after and restore Japanese 70's and 80's models they grew up on. They wouldn't know a Bonneville or a Commando if it ran them over!

Sadly very few get seen ever at all. Ok, classic bike meets will throw up the odd one or three, but never have I seen either in everyday use for a long time now.

I'm proud to say I went the Triumph route from a young age even though, as I've told before many moons ago on BadWeB, my mates rode off to the seaside every sunny Sunday on their shiny new Japanese two strokes or fours whilst I stayed home scraping my knuckles and wiping up oil off my mums backyard floor!

Jolly better finish up his projects before the wife finishes up hers...
That's sad news to hear that even in England the older British bikes are off the roads.
I had quite a few but after an Atlas tried to blow my foot off out the door they went.
Maybe another Norton after an S3T and an XB12SS round out the Buell stable.

My Bonnie project is a 2004. bought it about three years ago with only 50 miles on it, had been sitting in someone's garage since the day they rode it home, got a "deal too good to pass up" so I ended up with a Bonnie - actually very appropriate story, bought at night in the rain on a small back porch...it was just too fitting and too good of a deal, now its getting a nice color change...

I agree, its three projects to --I don't know three??? you're right though, gotta get mine done NOW, or her "projects will bring mine to a screeching (screaming?) halt!!

Steve, there still is a very big contingent of British bike fans of all ages, and many are ridden regularly on the roads. I do still see the odd old Brit iron being used as everyday transport by a said few, but the Bonneville's and Commando's don't appear to be amongst them.

What I suspect is the ones that have survived, and there will be many no doubt, have been brought back up to tip top condition and used on special occasions and the odd ride out on nice days.

It's the older bikes that appear to get the outings. Post war BSA singles are about. Even veteran bikes from between the wars seem to get seen now and again. Usually ridden by very old men wearing Belstaff's and dayglo (I refuse to use that stupid hi-viz speak) stripe over their shoulder! An ancient breed of road warriors!
