Hey guys, having a fuel delivery problem on a 00 S3T. It recently decided it only wanted to run on the front cylinder. Thought maybe it was an ignition issue but after pulling both spark plugs I noticed the the back plug was bone dry. For giggles I checked to make sure it had spark and even switch plugs around and everything looks good. I'm not really familiar with the inner workings for fuel injection and wondered if anyone here could point me in the right direction on things to check. Any help would be greatly appreciated. try swapping the connectors, for the injectors, if the back cylinder runs then the problem is wiring or ecm related some possibles, failed injector broken wire failed I/O line in the ecm. If you have ECM spy you can test the injectors outputs. checking the wiring with a meter, the ECM in effect turns the ground on. its not too complex one step at a time. good luck. | ||

Okay I switched the injector wires and the rear cylinder still wasn't getting any fuel. I've now pulled the injector out. Is there anything I can do to test the injector. Looking at the bottom of it, it appears to be clean. | ||

I even went a step further and switched the injectors around just to be absolutely sure. As I hoped the rear cylinder was then firing and the front did nothing. | ||

There are places that rebuild and clean injectors. If you go that route, I suggest taking them both in so that they come back the same as each other. Good work on the debug  | ||

Questions. What fuel have you been running? Has the bike stood idle for any length of time? I'm thinking stuck/clogged injector, that ethanol crap is no good for injectors from last century. I'd try leaving it sitting in a bath of clean ethanol free gas or even some injector cleaner to see if you can resurrect it before going any further. Good advice Mr G. My question, if I soak the injector in a cleaner is there a way for me to tell if it's working again, other than putting back on the bike and trying it out? | ||

So I'm assuming that if the injector is plugged I will not hear anything when I send power to it? | ||

It may still make a sound but it will probably sound different from the good one. I would suggest deferring this to a professional. Make sure the professional is cheaper than a pair of new ones though! | ||

I soaked it for a day and it's still not making any noise. Am I jumping the gun in assuming it's dead? Either way my sister(the owner) decided to order a new injector and call it good. Think it would be worth my time to send this one in, get it fixed, and resell it? (Assuming of course that it can be fixed) | ||

Personally I wouldn't bother, I doubt it'd be economic. You can test to see to see if the coil in the injector has gone open circuit, but that's about it without specialised equipment. | ||

Well apparently it just needed a second day to soak. Tried it again this morning and now she's clicking. What does suck is I still have a new one on the way. :/ |
