alright, bought a V&H SSR for the X1 from e-bay...had i had known that the front bracket at one time had been cracked and/or broken and re-welded (not at the correct angle, i might add), I would never have bought it...but I did. So my question is this...I downloaded the instructions from V&H website since the can didn't come w/ them, and they said that SOME might need trim 3/8" off the chin fairing...I REALLY don't want to do this unless I have to...it is BARELY touching the muffler, like a 1/16" here and there...anyone else running this muffler w/ about the same fitment? Think this will be o.k. on the surlyn?

I have the V&H can on my X-1, but never had the weld break nor is it close enough to the chin fairing for it to hit. If you have access to a welder, you may want to grind the tab back of and re-weld it to where it should be. This might fix up some of your clearance issues.

Same here. I did however add the updated support as additional insurance against bracket failure. Works great!}

hmm, who knows with anything from e-bay, i guess...whoever welded it did a DECENT job at it...i just knocked it into position with a rubber mallet, lined up O.K. after that...I think maybe after reading your posts, V&H puts that in their directions about trimming the chin fairing because maybe not all the mufflers leave the shop with the brackets in the same identical places??...who knows..thanks for the feedback
