Aren't the old paper primary cover gaskets wonderful? My beautiful X1W has turned into the Exxon Valdez as a chunk of the paper primary cover gasket decided to poke it's nose out for some fresh air. The Mobil 1 decided to come along for the ride and both locating dowels decided they'd had enough and went for a dunk in the draining oil. Other than that, it's running like a champ! In all fairness to Harley, this was only their 99th year of motorcycle production so there were still a few things to learn about gaskets. (Message edited by SteveFord on August 24, 2013) | ||

It hung in there for about 6000 miles before it started wreaking havoc with the garage floor. At least it came off easily and didn't happen on a trip. Back together, all done. (Message edited by SteveFord on August 25, 2013) |
