Hi all I recently(2 days ago) decides to do a x1/Xb mash up cram together custom bike If you shall lol. I've got some questions I don't know the answer to make you guys can help.
1.can I use an 1125 engine instead of a xb12
Engine. If I can use both which is better to use?
2. Can I keep my same swing arm or is it best to just swap the swingarm aswell.
3. Are the wheels on the Xb/x1 interchangeable
4. If I'm switching the swingarm should I switch my triple tree over to the Xb/1125? If so will it be a direct fit or more custom fab?

Ok are you using the X1 frame?
The swing arms are not inter cangeable with out machine work. The motors are not interchangeable with out fab work. The steer tubes are not the same to use the xb triple in the X1 you need to press the x1 tube in the xb triples and machine it some. The xb engines i take is also through the top which causes you to fab a tank with an intake through it or relocate the tank elsewhere. Not to mention exhaust fab!
Have fun though hope you are up for it

Yes using the x1 frame already started a new gas tank design. So that's no problem fabing that together I'm assuming the Xb engine is top mounted? At least that's what it looks like I can solve that to and as long as I'm taking metal out of the swingarm and not adding metal that no big deal. Air intakes I believe on the Xb/1125 comes out of the inner part of the V if I'm correct that is what I'm hoping because that's gonna be my secret weapon an that's why I'm doing this entire thing. And exhaust fab is no biggie that's the easiest thing to over come. I've got a couple friends of mine who are dieng to help me with it aswell so I will have a couple pair of hands and minds to help. But if I use the Xb/1125 engine do I need to use a new swing arm or can I keep the x1? And keep the under frame shock because I like the look of that.

If you us the newer motor you loose the rear pivot mount block so that may affect things. The 1125 I think could be wrong has the belt on the oppisite side. To swap the swing arm you need to have pieces lathed. I am doing the swing arm swap possibly still deciding.
It is def a big project but will be awesome when done

Ya I'm def thinking 1125 and use the 1125 swing arm and fab it together I'm beginning not to care how much work goes Into it

the 1125 arm will have to go with the motor, you will not have to deal with an oil tank but you will have to deal with the radiators - plumbing, and a major re-wire, ( in addition to the tank project, ) yes for reference the intake goes up between the cylinders, the engine mounts top side and rear end, I expect that you will have LOTS of machining to do. You will also have to deal with its fuel pump. The 1125 electrical system is more complex than the tubers

I would consider an Xb swing arm and shock
1125 front end with wheel,

IMO the motor makes more power than the frame is designed for, If you insist on an 1125 motor in a steel frame consider building it around the motor vs chopping up a serviceable x1 frame.

Ya I've been doing more research didnt know the 1125 was liquid cooled so I'm def doing xb12 engine and forks and swingarm. The xb12 has the top air intake aswell?
P.S olddog want to switch garages for a couple days?

Travis ,for putting a xb engine in a tuber frame:
You need one of these,
http://www.nrhsperformance.com/partsbillet.shtml
also use the original tuber top mount/bracket that is in between the cylinderheads.
For the lower front heim joint (engine to frame) it's possible to use a shorted blast heim joint and make a round extention piece for mounting it to the frame.

For the engine mounting block (rear of the xb engine to tubeframe/swingarm) you have to make a complete new design.
It's this that is there on the tuber engine cases ,but complete different on the xb engines!

It would be nice to build it in such a way so that it is possible to put everything back to original.

Good luck with the project!

To answer your question Travis Yes the intake points straight up like the 1125's,

FYI while the mounting arrangement is quite a bit different between the XB and the 25

Search Joesbuell in the archive its a detailed account of Jody's conversion of an s3 to an s1 mutant, fitted with hand made exhaust, oil in xb swing arm, xb wheels
front brake and forks, streamlined electrics, and a host of cool details

It made a national Australian bike mag =)

Ya I am just in a debate about myself and my significant other about what's practical and budget and time.
P.s what does a running x1 engine go for about?

im really not trying to be a dick, but the fact that youre talking about putting motors that you almost know literally nothing about sounds backwards as hell.

you have a motor in the bike now, right?
why not just build it if you want more power?
you can still swap in the swingarm from an XB and you can still put a XB front on it while saving you a lot of headache figuring the motor stuff out

plus, i thought you were saving to buy an EBR and werent going to mess with this bike

I'm going to take the opposite approach. Please make a project of the bike. When you've finally hit the wall, and realize you are well over your head, you'll be selling off the parts cheap!

Why not just build a badass X1 like one of these? Either that or put a V-8 big block in it and quick dicking around with these v-twin motor ideas...

Oh I will still be buying an 1190 that is without a doubt but can you blame me for wanting to work to make my bike look as badass as it possibly can be? And ur absolutely right I didn't know the 1125 was liquid cooled. And when I figured it out I pushed that idea out the door. That's why I'm still debating on what to
Do.And argue with my misses about me goin over board on a bike i wont be using much.So I agree with u on most of what u say.

And YES I THAT SETTLES ALL DEBATES IM DROPPING A 454 IN A BUELL!! Issue solved can't believe I didn't think of that before .

YES. Have one engine's turbo feed the opposite for maximum entertainment with plumbing.

Omg that is awsome think its street legal? I'm just sitting here thinking and if the frame has a title and the only thing that's essentially different is the wheels then it must be right?

In nys 4 wheelers are illegal to ride on the road due to title and registration issues but if one were to use the x1 frame it would have to be classified and a motorcycle still right? Just wondering if that's a way around it. I would love to have one of those and pull into a bike show with it LOL the evil looks I would get.

Have wanted a speed of color tail piece for a couple yrs for the S1.
Ny probably classifies all motorcycles with 4 wheels as an atv then they regulate it from there. South Dakota as long as it has a headlight and a tail light its legal with proper registration on all roads that are not highway or interstate
