Gents, got a question for the mechanically inclined and Buell gurus (which I am definitely not).

My S2T rear brake is not working. I checked the reservoir which was completely empty and bone dry, probably from sitting the last few years (5+). I added new fluid and bled the brakes according to the manual. The brake worked and stopped the rear tire while the bike was on the stand and I couldn’t move it with my hand. The brake did needed to be full down to stop the tire.

When I went for a test ride the brake did not work at all. I pushed the pedal to full deflection and nothing.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Still air in the line. You will need to elevate the caliper to bleed it out. And after sitting so long the caliper and master probably both need rebuild as the rubber parts may have degraded.
I have had the best luck in bleeding by having the whole system off the bike for bleeding and then installing it back on without opening the system. Tedious but effective.

Yep.

Remove.

Rebuild - new rubber on the m/c, new rubber in the caliper, new crush washers on the fittings.

Vacuum-bleed.

Once installed, perform a series of 40mph stops - HARD stops - using the rear brake ONLY until you can smell brake pads. That will burn off rust, glazing, and contamination from both the rotor and the pads (if it's sat that long, get new pads before doing any of this just to be safe).

Oh...and you do know your rear lever / master cylinder is adjustable, yes? Set it as high as your foot can manipulate, for max leverage.
