Hey there fellers! Been off the board for quite some time but I thought I'd post here to get back in the swing of things. Attempting to revisted an old but everpresent subject....the S1 seat! Are any of you guys having luck with any of the gel products like Saddlegel, etc.? I'm thinking about buying the raw material and taking my Corbin to a local upholstery shop and having them re-do it. Just wanted to see if anyone else has tried this. I know, I know, suck it up right? Well I'm getting old and fat. Thanks for any input. Lee

Lee, if I remember right (and that's a BIG if!) that is a "Pro-pad" gel cushion. It's not Buell-specific, but it works pretty well on the S1. There's a strap that attaches to the bottom of the pad with Velcro, and I run the strap under the seat, cinch it up tight, then tighten the seat down. It works ok--it's not like there's much room to slide around on an S1 seat, and it's a big improvement over the Corbin seat I have on the bike.

I think I bought it online, but darned if I can remember where.

I use one on my S-2 and love it.

I've installed Pro Pads in all my seats. Works great. With a bit of care, the seat doesn't look much different than stock, but sure works better : ) However, I'm not sure the S1 seat would have enough surface area to really benefit from a pad installation. I think the Top Pad would be the best bet.

What about the Pro Series seat? Can I still get one? I'd love to hear from any of those people if they like them or not.

I've just had mine reworked with a pad of gel 'waffle' not a sack of gel like a breast implant, more of a sheet made up of triangles, then a layer of foam. It looks the same as before but should be more comfortable. To be honest it's hard to say. I did a 190mile jaunt on Saturday and ached a bit, but that could be that I'm just not used to being in that position for 4 hours.
I'm hoping to do a length of Britain, Lands End to John O'Groats, trip, which is about 1700miles over 5 days and NEED the S1W to be comfortable or at least be used to riding it. I've only had it 5 years :0)
The propads should do the job. I'll watch with interest.
What size for a S1W seat?

I actually enjoyed the original seat, but it was replaced after a crash, and they 'threw it out' instead of saving it for me. They installed a Euro Pro Seat (or something like that), which I hated as it was taller, so worse for the small me around town. This spring I bought another Buell brand seat, the one with the Pegasus on the side. It was listed on the buell web site, but I had a tough time actually finding it. I THINK it was called the Lightning Seat, or something. I found about it here in the archives when looking for lowering my S1WL. I still have the invoice and bag at home, so I can get the part # if needed. Anyway, I love the new seat. It's firm, no doubt, not a cruser seat, but I haven't got a numb butt yet. It's a solo seat BTW.
Hope this helps,
Overload in Colorado

Thanks everyone for the advice. I ordered some raw gel. May take my Corbin to a local upholsterer and have him rework it or just haul off and by the Pro Series or something. I think you can pick them up for about $110. From what I've heard people are liking them. Lee

The Pro Series seat is discontinued but still in stock at a few dealers.

The pro series seat rocks. I'll sell you mine for $5000 and throw in an S1WL ; )
