I was heading up I95 today and somehow lost my entire left footpeg assembly – by the time I realized I should try to go back and find it, it was already a needle in a haystack with cars whizzing through it. *facepalm*

Anyone know where I might find a replacement?

I was recently able to source the peg mount from buellsterparts.com and a set of the bronze bushings from American Torque on eBay, all in fairly quick turn around time. Nuts and bolts I picked up from local hardware store.

I just broke up a set to give a peg mount to someone else.....I have a peg mount left and a possibly even a set of tapered aluminum pegs, or a set or aluminum round pegs....the aluminum round pegs are a little rough but could be filed and cleaned up....

shoot me a note if you need them or want to see photos....

I made mine: Bolt: 5/16-18, grade 8, coarse thread, 2.5 inches long. 2 lock washers, 3/8 ID fuel line rubber hose over the bolt.

Caution.
The mounting post for the foot peg is designed to collapse easily to prevent bending the frame in the event of an accident.
Being so soft they also wear very quickly adding to the cacophony of noise and helping to empty your wallet.

Mine contorted beyond repair when the side stand sank into sand and the bike fell over.
I had no trouble buying updated replacement $10.

A PSA for all other (sometimes negligent) tube frame riders – CHECK YOUR PEG MOUNTS FOR SNUGNESS. The bolt holding my right peg on was very loose and wobbly too.

My brain rationalized the loose bolts by assuming it was just the spring-loadedness I was feeling.

Thanks to Jolly, I'm back on the road.

One question – is there a collar that goes around the left footpeg? The grease mark around the mounting hole on the frame suggests that the one I had before had something around it.

I have red thread-locker on both bolts. The left one tends to back out. Almost lost it once. As for a collar, could be because the OEM boomerang shift linkage rides on the shaft between the peg and the frame.

If you switch over to a different type of shift set up, like the Banke set up, there is an aluminum collar that fits over that exposed shaft of the foot peg assembly.

I might have one you can borrow for a sample if have a machinest that can make a duplicate....

Just went to the garage and checked. My X-1W has a rubber sleeve there.

Ah, that sounds like a fairly benign piece to be missing. I didn't figure it would be anything structural, but have been surprised by important little pieces that didn't seem important before ; )

Thanks for the tips
