The point is that my neighbor complained that my current pipe is to loud. I was hoping to get something with a baffle but there seems to be not much help. I guess if im not stock im not welcome. thats cool. Everyone has a comment not one helpful. Question was simply if anyone has experience with this company or a similar system from elsewhere? If anyone would like to be helpful I would appreciate it.

I have no experience but one of the pictures shows the exhaust mounted on an M2. That's strange because it sits right where the riders leg would be. Anyway, just going by the picture and size/shape of the exhaust, it seems like it would be a loud pipe.

You are welcome here Enarans.

Consider that riding around with a really loud pipe is putting people in exactly the position you were put in when you came here, but worse. Instead of asking for advice on a pipe, but getting comments on loud exhausts, they are trying to have conversation with their spouse over a nice dinner, and have to stop until somebody goes by, or (this really happened to me) sitting in a funeral and everyone has to stop and wait until the pack of loud sport bikes goes by so we can finish the service. It's an unwanted and uninvited interruption.

I'm not judging you, I ran a loud pipe on my old 9sx for a few months. I pulled it because at the end of the day I decided it was impolite.

The "problem" is that the stock exhausts are VERY good in terms of both performance and noise reduction. So you can change a pipe to get just a little more power, but you do so at the cost of a LOT more noise. And many "loud" pipes really don't help power except in a narrow RPM band up top, which only makes sense if you are racing and rebuilding the motor every couple seasons.

The drummer with the db killer is supposed to be lower frequency without being stupid loud, I don't know for sure, I haven't heard one.

The Buell factory Race exhaust is tolerable (loud, but not insane). I have heard those. It makes more sense on a 9 (no exhaust servo already) than the 12. On the 12, it moves power around more than actually adding much.

The Micron header and exhaust setup is the one that actually makes more power. Good luck finding one though. They are probably "too loud", but on the quieter edge of the "too loud" spectrum. I rode with somebody who had one for a day. It was loud, but I didn't hate it, at least in the open mountains. I had been following the Harley rider with straight pipes for the previous day, and was ready to strangle him after being subjected to that noise for 5 hours of riding (even with earplugs in). It was a good day ruined.

On a tuber, the supertrapp IDS was a very nice pipe. Great tone, louder than stock, but not something that kills conversation for anyone within 100 feet of you.

So anyway, you are still welcome, regardless what pipe you run. But I, for one, am kind of past feeling like I have to pretend I am not annoyed when somebody is being annoying.

We will still share a beer with you though. : )

Re: That "Hookah" pipe -

It is way, way too short to do anything good for performance - the acoustic wave is going to be way beyond the end of that pipe - which means loud, yes, but beyond that, your exhaust is going to have very little velocity to it. It's a good choice for a showbike or other less that functional item, like a rigid frame.

I checked out the picture of your bike in your profile - looks really nice. I'd have to +1 the Supertrapp recommendation or the Race system for that if noise control is what you're going for. If you just are showing your M2 and not riding it (which would really be a shame) that Hookah pipe would sure look trick if you can get it to fit, but it would not do you any favors it the tuning department. You could anticipate at the minimum a pretty radical carb rejet to get anything resembling performance out of it.

I personally would not run it - I'd find a stock stainless can from a S3 and doll it up to go with your fighter plane theme. Since everyone takes off the stock muffler, you can find them inexpensively if you look and are a bit patient. The stock can is quiet - but as said above, it works well. The Race Muffler would look really good and in keeping with the fighter theme too, with those big rivets on both ends keeping the insides in.

Since everyone takes off the stock muffler...............

NO, everyone does NOT take the stocker off. these bikes run just fine for everyday use with the stock muffler.

any squid maneuvers that you need can be accomplished without pissing anyone off with a loud pipe. it really is time to reassess just how much loud pipes are an annoyance to the general public.

plus, for anyone who likes their own interpretation of traffic regs, stealth will get you in less trouble than a pipe that screams "LOOK AT ME !!!!"

Twas a generalization. I to run a stock muffler by choice on Veronica, for the same reasons plus the "IF it ain't broke" principal.....and no argument that the bikes run fine that way.

How about "The perceived value of the stock exhaust is lower than that of aftermarket stuff, so the stock mufflers are relatively inexpensive"...or something.

I remember seeing that white brothers exhaust for a tuber when I visited Modesto Buell... beautiful looking pipe. Though as I recall "from the day" they could shake themselves apart. As I recall, the stock pipe and the Supertrap IDS were the only two pipes that would not self destruct.

Enarans, that m2 looks familiar,
is the flame section of the tank backed with electro-luminecent material that you can "light up?"

Super trap is a great way to go, Al can get em, and they are durable as the stock muffler
