Have you tested the stator and VR? 18 - 54 VAC from the stator and 14.1 - 14.7 VDC at the battery terminals when running. No shorts to ground from either stator wire.

If you got several bad batteries in a row, that could be your entire issue - but I tend to look deeper to understand what makes stuff fail when I have a repeating issue. If it starts easier in the morning than at your turnaround point, you still have an charging circuit problem.

14.1 VDC is adequate. Minimum, but adequate.

so i checked the AC output per the FSM the FSM says it should be between 38 and 52 AC volts at 2000 RPM i believe i was at 2000RPM ,maybe a little higher and i was at 56 AC volts.... i also did the stator check per FSM and the first part the continuity test it read 0 just as it should , and the resistance test i was at .6 the FSM says .2 - .4, but does not say anything about it being higher ..

so i did the VR test per the FSM , i do not have a test light so i used my multi tool, the FSM says if light glows replace VR when i used the multi tool i get a .02 millivolt reading on one terminal and on the other i get a 80.2 millivolt reading.. could this be the problem....

.6 ohms is fine - that's what gave you 56 volts instead of 54. Anything above 29 volts can be rectified to 14.5 dc volts.

I sent you a PM with my phone number @ 3:45.

You can make a test light out of two bits of wire and a taillight bulb.

Kewl. If you get at least 14 volts at idle all is well. I used to have your number in my cell phone's memory but I laundered that phone.

The most frequent problem I have seen with VRs is the output wire coming loose from its terminal. It's under the regulator so it is hard to check.

well at idle the bike is only putting out 12.9 at the battery and when revved up it is up over 14. i still think it is a little low for idle.

You should have 12.6 at rest (not running). Have you tightened the screw on the VR output?

I agree, 12.9 is a bit low if your idle is 950 rpm or more.

I resent the phone number but it is not in my inbox even though I checked the box to send myself a copy. Try sending me an e-mail and I will reply to it.
