Hey guys, first post here. I have been handed a 2000 M2 from my father to ride for a few years while at college and was looking the bike over and it appears to me that there is a fair amount of space behind the windscreen.

If you replaced the hardware on the windscreen with some sort of quick release set up like a few coder pins or something that you could Velcro in a little pouch of some sort back there in between the gauges and the windscreen..

any one tried this or seen it done? I can't be the first person who has thought of this..

is there a kit somewhere to convert it? a hinge on one side and a quick release on the other side would be awesome..

There was a kit sold some years back that had a hinge you mount up on one side and snaps on the other, all the hardware was installed at the existing fastener points.

Came with a cordura pouch and some zip ties to attach it to a convenient point behind the flyscreen.

I believe it was called a "Fly Trap" conversion kit or something of that sort. It's handy for keeping registration and small flashlight and multi-tool... that sort of thing.

No problem. I've got mine off the bike, can take some pics for you if you'd like. The Company that made them was called "yo dude performance", but I'm pretty sure they went under.

I tried to look them up again a few years back and what I found had no relation to Buell flyscreen compartments

This is original poster..decided to change my username to my old favorite.

I found this thread

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/31953.html?1074414284

(last post was in 2004)

It looks like I am out of luck, and it also looks like the product was not designed to well according to the thread above.

Good find Andy, I'm glad you are acquainting yourself with the search function or the google search. There are some here who insist on posting new threads every time they have a question, when there are already numerous threads here that apply.

Rant off.

I didn't like how my flyscreen was more loose with the hinge kit on, which is why I eventually removed it. I kept the bag behind the screen for a while, without the hinge on, seems like I pulled it out of there when I started messing with installing heated grips on the bike. Now I just keep my registration in a plastic bag in my inside jacket pocket.

The kit and bag still hang out in my box of old and spare Buell parts, so if you want to try and do something with them let me know. I may even still have the "instruction" page somewhere, which was a well written entertainment article, not so much a "how to".

Congrats on your new bike, by the way, and welcome to Badweb!

-Mike

I really liked that flytrap setup on my M2. It used hinges on one end, and snaps on the other.

Snaps on all sides might work well also.

If it was really for the "oh crap" moments (like tire patch, wire, rescue tape, epoxy, etc) you could probably just unscrew it, put the stuff there, then screw it back on normally. Then just have a screwdriver "outside" it somewhere.

That's a pretty good idea Reep, using the flat screws suggested in the other thread to insure good snap engagement.

Might still use a short safety tether in case both snaps gave up on one side while in motion.

Understandably, this is not EXACTLY what you want, But my solution to a bit more storage was a sport style nylon fork bag that I attached on the end of the tail. works great, cheap on ebay, and can hold quite a bit of small stuff. I use this for tools and disk locks and other little things like that. It sits fairly flat when empty and round when full. Not a bad little bag. I linked the picture to the ebay ad so click the pic to check it out.

I used a hinge and 3M Dual Lock (Available at Target) at the top of the wind screen and at the free side. I tried using snaps, but they proved to be more trouble than they were worth. The key is the Dual Lock adhesion. I found removing the adhesive from the Dual Lock and using 3M Yellow Super Weather Strip Adhesive (Available at at Auto Zone) worked nicely. It's pretty secure and holds the Buell tool kit nicely. It also gives the HID ballast and relay a place to hide.

I used 4 acorn nuts on the front of the screen to complete the look. Total cost was under $15 but you end up with extra Dual Lock and lots of adhesive.

By the way edgarr, I love the cone filter.. I want to put on my M2 soo bad, but it already has a carbon fiber airbox that my dad added on and I don't see the sense in shelling out good money to replace a well functioning aftermarket part for another aftermarket part.. Maybe I can sell the carbon piece and get the cone setup for about the same..

But now that the rant is over, just wanted to say that it looks beautiful..

Yeah, I sold my Race kit carbon ham can, for about what the elbow/cone filter cost. The elbow kits can be had for cheaper now that so many are copying them.
