I'm going friday night to the drag strip to see how my buell preforms in the 1/4 mile against my buddies 1700 yamaha warrior. I think i'm gonna keep up with him. But i was just wondering if i can run cam 2 in my bike safely? I normally run 93 in it but was wondering what 102 would do.

Well if your carburation is right, why do you need the super octane gas?

High octane resist's pre-detonation under high heat/compression situations so unless you're bumping compression or running wrong plugs you ought to be okay with standard high octane pump gas.

This is coming from your garden variety back-yard mechaninc so take it with a grain of salt... unless you've had a problem with pinging or expect to be making a lot of runs I don't know that it would be bad, but can't see how it would help either.

...waiting for someone who's raced their bike to chime in.

well not familiar with that gas as in australia.
but i've been drag racing on my Buell, get your sixty foot time down & shift as quick as you can. that will make more difference than the gas you use. drag racing bikes, the rider can make a big difference.
good luck also quick reaction time help a lot too.

well i went out and the best i did was 13.641 at 98.53
r/t.215
60' 2.096
330' 5.687
1/8 8.714
1000 11.336

I think i can get a 12.9 with a different tire and better riding.
I came off the line bogged down and shifted into second too soon i think it was around 5k shoulda been around 6k had like 4 gallons of fuel so could loose some weight too. What are your thoughts on not using the clutch to shift. Just dropping the throttle long enough to shift with no clutch. I really need to out preform my buddies warrior. He is so full of himself and that damn loud bike. I think i put the fear in him by only being 3 10ths off his best time. i did realize not to drop the clutch on my second run at 3500 with a super sticky tire considering i did a 3 foot wheelie off the line. lol just bought my buddies m2 rear wheel and tire and pully and rotor for 80 bucks and gonna throw that on for the next time back. btw my bike is stock other than a hyper charger and a d and d exhaust. SO.... any advice or tips would be well appreciated. thanks again

A few tips... the hypercharger is costing you HP.

Flat changing is easy on the sporty/Buell box although I found it easier on the sporty, maybe due to a more direct shift.

Ya need to feather the clutch off the line, a good way to practice control is to practice in the dirt, that teaches you the contact point and how to control it.
