ok so here is my issue i have a 2000 x1 with d&d full system forcewinder intake. had a race ecm but fried was able to save the maps on ecm spy prior thankfully. ok issue one is on a steady throttle no matter the gear or speed it has a surge kinda a light buck. problem two is on a hard acceleration to fast decel the engine stumbles and wants to die sometimes does die and coughs always will start right back up after toggling the on off switch.

any help would be great its very frustrating

Can you use EcmSpy ?
Try running injector cleaner.

1.) Check your battery connections. 10mm wrench and tight. Check your battery voltage with key off, it should be at least 12.4 VDC. If it isn't, fully charge to get it there.
2.) Check all grounds and make sure they are all tight.
3.) Go to fuse box under seat and draw a map of all fuse positions and two relays in the fuse block. Pull all fuses and relays, then reinsert each a couple of times to "clean" any oxidation off the contacts and the fuse block connections.

If you do not own a Field Service Manual, you can get one from American Sport Bike. You'll need the FSM to do general maintenance too. You can also get the ECMspy cable you'll need to use ECMspy from American Sport Bike. Al and Joanne are a valued vendor to the BadWeb community.

My educated guess would be you have a bad Engine Temperature Sensor, an exhaust leak (check carefully with bare hand at exhaust flange and heads) and around the O2 sensor at the bung and make sure it's tight, or possibly an intake leak (check with propane or mapp gas))---unlit of course---around the intake seals at the throttle body.

One other thing. Check your plug wires at both ends and make sure they are seated.

This is all familiar to me.

Do the above mentioned, but also check your AFV, it should read between 90-110 as a normal operating range.

ETS could be shot as well

Sounds trivial but check the plugs and double check the gap. Funky plugs do strange things.

There is a large ground strap above the swing arm, give that a look over. Bad grounds will cause worlds of voltage issues.

Sadly its alot to check but its basically the process of elimination. Best of luck
