Hey all,
Just out of curiosity, what is the widest tire you can fit onto an otherwise stock swingarm/belt drive 99 M2? Thanks! Frank.

I have heard of people putting on 180 tires. I think that is easier with the performance machine wheels they are wider that the castaloy's. I think I have read of a few people putting on 190's but others have said they rub on the belt. I have no experience with either I am on my 6th tire that I have installed they have all been 170's. Sorry I am so boring.

Without an inner fender the only thing you have to worry about is hitting the belt. You can space the rear sprocket out a little, but watch the frame near the front sprocket. You could switch to chain, but that has it's set backs also.
Your handling is going to suffer with the bigger tires. Tire profile will make a big difference on your clearance issue's.
Be very careful with the belts alignment or your experiment could get real expensive. Buying the bigger tire is going to be only a small part of this investment.

Thanks guys, just had my M2 a while and want to breathe some new life into it. My xb's are getting all my attention! ; ) I was thinking a wider rear tire might be pleasing to the eye on the ole' cyclone, it's too pretty to beat on, so I'd sacrifice a little corner ability for a cool look. Thanks again guys!

Pm wheels a 190 will fit and clear the belt barely with pm rims! Mine had one when i bought it. I am sure brands differ slightly also. By ghe way when I say barely I mean 1/8 or less gap

I've just put a 190/50 Pilot Power on the back of an S3 with cast rims and it clears everything.
