I wanted to switch to fat bars that tapered from 1 1/8 inches in the center to 7/8 at the end. these bars have more bend options as most bikes are running them and I was running out of ideas on what to put on my S1 that wouldn't hit the manta tank and severely limit travel. I started out trying the 1 1/8 adapter blocks from American Sport Bike and though they do offer a one inch rise and adapt to 1 1/8 bars, they just don't offer a way to cleanly mount the stock gauge mount.

I worked with a machine shop to design a top cap that would mate to the surface of the bottom of the blocks, carry the 1 1/8 diameter and the top was designed like the stock top clamp to mount the stock gauge plate. it worked but it was really rough! just could not bring myself to use it as a finished product...but it gave me something to work with on the next round of design. I placed a "call' for help here and Gmaan03 offered to help. naturally we are on opposite ends of the US,, so we mailed things back and forth a few times, traded some emails and photos and measurements and came up with a very nice finished product! Jerome really does nice work and I simply could not have finished this without his time and skill. THANKS GMAAN!!!

I'm running Renthal 'Fatbars' they are fairly close to a Ducati Monster bend and they work great on the S1!! they give a great position, excellent leverage and control and they clear the tank...just a little but they do clear the tank without having to have significant and I am finally happy with the bars on the bike!! for those of you that have been wanting to run the Buell CR bars, this is the solution...

sorry the photo is one rev prior to the final, the final design has a slight taper from the rear to the front, I just noticed that I forgot to take a final photo! but if you scroll up you can see the difference between this photo and the final rev. Ill take another in the daylight tomorrow.

Kalali, I can shoot you a high res photo if you like of the ones I have posted or I think you are asking for a shot taken further back to really show the bars in relation to the bike?

let me know what you want and I will either drop another photo in here or shoot you a high res to your email address.

yeah, I like it when a plan comes together, I've been carrying that around in my head as a "I want one that does this..and looks like this,,,and fits like this..." for a long time now and finally through the right help turned the brain picture into reality...and it rocks!
