My rear cylinder (99 S3) has a little weepage at the corner right behind the pushrod tube.

I did a compression check and leakdown test and both cylinders are fine (only 22,000 miles on it).

I have a new girlfriend and don't want to oil her down (at least while riding; )), but don't want to make a major project out of it at this time.

In the future I want to do Stage II light heads and a 1250 kit, but for now I have other things to spend time and money on.

With that in mind, I don't want to disturb the front motor mount - can I get the rear head and jug off with the engine in place?

I updated my rocker box gaskets a long time ago so all I think I need is a head gasket (1), base gasket (1), manifold gaskets (2) and pushrod tube gaskets (2) - do you agree?

If this is correct I don't need a kit, just the individual parts - can you help a brother out with the HD numbers for these?

I figured I just pick them up locally...

thanks,

Scott

Yes you can pull the cylinders with the engine in place. Fact is when you do both the rear comes off first. When my M2 was leaking out the base gasket it was messy but it never got bad enough to spray oil every where. Just go get a single cylinder kit comes with all the gaskets. The old base gasket was a pain to get off good luck. If the dealer isn't Buell friendly just get a gasket set for a 99 Sportster.

Thanks, so it doesn't matter that my bike has different heads than a 99 Sporty?

Does that kit include the correct intake and pushrod tube seals?

The "difference" in heads is porting, valves, and cc...not anything that affects gasket surfaces.

I used a complete overhaul kit for a 99 Sportster to rebuild my 99X1. It all fit fine. I did opt to use the James gaskets for the base of the cylinders though because I didn't like straight metal gaskets.
