OK I switched over from the Edelbrock carb on my California model S2 to the CV carb. Got my new throttle cables, choke cable etc. The bike runs fine, idles fine, cold starts with the choke fine. However, I cant seem to get the warm start right. Tried 1/8 to 1/4 throttle, it just cranks. If I give it a small squirt of the accelerator pump it will start, but I smell gas. Its like I am flooding it.
I set the float lever per manual, pilot screw is set at 2 turns.
It has a #45 pilot jet and a 185 main jet and has had a through cleaning.
The throttle is a bit sensitive, but I am getting used to it.
Any ideas?

Turn the petcock on.

Set the choke all the way.

Twist the throttle all the way open once. Back off and let it snap shut. Don't touch the throttle again.

Turn it over.

Once it starts, start backing off the choke and let it warm up.

Two_seasons pretty much explained it all.

with the kehein cv carb on my 96S1, I would turn the gas on, pull the choke all the way out and tap the throttle. This placed a fuel charge in the cylinders. Wait 20 seconds or so (depends on gas quality) and tap it again. Bam!

I am still learning the Mikuni, its been jetted and dyno timed. With the choke, the enrichener setting is key to its wanting to run cold. It still takes 2 throttle pumps to begin which makes me think that the float drains itself overnight. IDK, I'll check the oil at the next change.

Take your a/f screw out a half turn and see if that helps any...should be about 2.5 turns total from bottomed-out.
