race bike?

I know some hd/buell drag guys will do this, but is there a real benefit of it?

no, it's a street bike. I got it new from the dealer but it had so many electrical issues that I ripped all the wiring out and started from scratch. the only benefit is simplicity.

Nice. No more solenoid current running through the ignition switch. That's what fries them.

I think that might be why my head light is dim? a fried switch. could lead to frying ignition ?

Sure is nice to know it will start every time!

I added a button to mine as a backup, because I got sick of the damn thing not working on occasion. Now if it hangs up, you just push the button.

Mine's been set up that way for years. Just watch them fingers!

It has three switches; a manual quick shifter on the handlebar, a run/stop switch on the dash, and a high/low beam switch on the headlight.

Recently, the bike would not start. Since there is almost nothing to trace I checked the fuses then looked over the wiring. What do you know, the terminals on my only switch were fuzzy with corrosion. I was rolling again in a few minutes.

good eye. however...
I was working on it when I took that pic.

or we could go with... (all in good fun. but most are guilty of these)

a. you are running the wrong cams.

b. your quench is set-up way to loose.

c. your ring seal is not what it should be.

e. your exhaust gaskets are hanging into your exhaust ports.

my primary chain is set at .625 to .750 of an inch at the tight spot. tight chains destroy parts.

Is the quick shifter switch a kill switch like on the Jap bikes? I had one on my KZ1000. Been wondering if that would work on a Buell

I went a step farther and took the relay that was killing the engine and fed a 12V signal to an ' external combustion device ' on my muffler. My KZ would blow flames when I shifted : )

Great looking ride!

Yeap. Thats how I've had my starter. I have no buttons on my handle bar at all, other than highbeam.. The only thing the key does is turn on the circuit for the ignition. Key off, the bike will still turn over. LoL.
