Is the kickstand bumper for an S2 something that can be found at an auto-parts store or Home Depot?

Then the local HD dealer probably has a couple of them in a box in the back of the parts dept.

I just got a 1986 build date cable, the odo reset cable, from Hal's. They dug it up in the back room. Found it in a box of Buell parts.

Most likely that bumper is a universal one.

Any photos? I put the new sideplates on the S2, and use an m2 kickstand. It hits the axle, and sometimes locks under it and you cannot get the kickstand down, while on the bike. A bumper would work....

http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/17584.html is the one that folks probably thought you meant...it's used on all the tubers EXCEPT the S2.

But the bumper that it hits when it goes up is different. The S2 part is 50110-94Y, which supersedes to 50098-96Y, which is obsolete. It's $3.75

But then there is a similar one for the 98 models, 50183-98Y, which supersedes to L0166.FB. It's $2.20.

I found one each of the 50098-96Y and 50183-98Y in my box of NOS OEM parts. They're VERY similar, same stud thread and length, just a different shape of the rubber bumper. I think they are interchangeable.

Neither is on the web site, mention it in the order comments on an order and we can add it if you need it.

If you have the retrofit sideplates that are made for the later kickstands (M2, S1, etc), there should be a bolt in there to adjust the "up" kickstand position...

As I told SportyEric, a seat bumper from a Corbin seat works perfectly..Ya just run a screw into the threaded hole and ur done..I think i had to reshape the rubber on 2 sides to fit it in there tho..
Just My 2 cents if ur stuck for one...
Corbin sells those seat bumpers seperately...HB

If you need me to, I can dig to the back of the garage to my S2. I have the retrofit sideplates and an S1 sidestand, with no interference issues. Happy to dig my way to it, and snap a pic or two for you.

IIRC I had the same issue as you when I first installed..but that was years ago and I'll be damned if I can remember how I fixed it.

...they say memory is the second thing to go, but I can never remember what goes first...

Wow! Thanks for the input, everyone. Especially Al. I ran that newer number past my local dealer and they can get me one. I'll spare American Sport Bike the nuisance value for packing and shipping a $2 sale but I'll remember the effort, Al.
