OK..it is pretty cold here. I have been riding still quite a bit. Rode to work today at 16 degrees, no problems. Rode home tonight at about 23 degrees and I have spots of oil on my belt and wheel. NO oil on anything around the engine....nothing even looks damp anywhere. I try to get the bike warmed up before I ride it much but it is darned hard to do in this temperature. Any ideas on what to look for first?? It has not leaked a drop of oil anywhere for 6 months since I re-sealed the whole top end.

The oil level in the tank will indicate if your losing engine oil.
Check the shock absorber.

Check your oil lines, rubber and cold air don't make for the best seal. Those oil hoses to and from the oil tank dont have very tight connections. I would also look at the vent line from the transmission.

Bingo....we have a winner. Vent line for the transmission. This cold weather must make the oil sling around in there more or something. I am guessing this is just something I will have to deal with.

It sounds like you may have a bad main seal. If the main seal goes bad then some of the engine oil is forced into the primary through the bad seal. The primary becomes overfilled and the excess is vented through the transmission vent tube. It is a very common scenario.

OK...so I got some time yesterday and crawled under there and did some cleaning. Looks like I have the famous leaky shock syndrome. Now I guess I have to weigh my options on shock replacement.

Nice........Lucky for me mine pissed out all over JTSperformance's shop floor and they offered me a works top of the line for cost and have it drop shipped to my door.

Make sure it is the shock leaking and not a loose oil pipe connection at the oil pump allowing oil to be blown back while moving ; )

Nope...definately the shock. The oil is kind of a yellow color and is coming out of the cover on the shock. Everything above it is drive and clean.

Yes that is the shock fluid and soon you will have a pogo stick rear end.
