So I have both shock mounts and need to know which one I need to use and why? Thank you for any help in advance.

The mount on the left is for the later shorter 14.5" center of eye to eye shock, the one on the right is the earlier 16+ inch shock.

The left one looks like a westec for the 16.5 shock, lowers it about an inch or so.

O.k. so I just have to measure my shock length and go from there. I was under the impression there was an upgraded part due to some issues?

The one on the left is a Westec and will lower the bike. I tried a Westec and went back to stock. My bikes uses the 16" shock...

The shock was updated. Not the mounting as far as I know.
The one on the left looks crazy strong. Is it Aluminum?

The one on the right is for the last updated 14.5" shock, the 16.5" shock has a different mounting bracket which is shorter in length by about 1/2". I have them both in front of me.

Yes the one on the left is aluminum and the one on the right is steel. The aluminum one came on the bike and the steel one came on an engine I bought that will now be an extra since the crankshafts are different.
I will be polishing the aluminum one and using it since it was on there. I thought there was a recall thing with the shock mounts, that is why I asked which one to use.
Still collecting parts to make this Buell look like a Buell again.

As noted, the aftermarket aluminum one will lower the bike. Just making sure you're aware.

Sorry I can't answer that at the moment the shock is at the bottom of a box of parts. My Buell is in several hundred pieces at the moment. When I get some new bolts to replace the ugly ones I will start putting it back together. Top picture is when I got it home. Does it look lowered??I don't know.
