Found a NOS 14" recall kit and need to make sure it's the best of the replacement shocks Buell put out along the way and that it will work on my bike. |

Best as in "doesn't leak as soon as the old ones?" |

I want the one that's best as in durability and longevity. I was under the impression that they eventually got the leaking issue resolved, so I'd want one of those shocks. The NOS shock that's available is only $50 more than a shock rebuild and I'm trying to decide whether to buy the new shock or go w/a rebuild. If the NOS shock isn't going to last any longer than the rebuild, then the extra $ is just thrown away. That's why I need the part# so I can make sure it's the last of the kits that's the most reliable. |

Stacey, here's the original thread from the classifieds. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/21/ 670463.html Looks like the p/n for your application is 94018Y. (Message edited by gixxer86g on January 08, 2013) |

Stacey, this recall shock is a good deal. You can then send your old one out to be rebuilt as a backup. |

This is the part# for the NOS shock I have found: 93929ya Does anyone know if this was one of the more reliable shocks. It was the last of the shocks for the S2 according to the seller. Any info would be helpful. |

Note that the part number 93929ya is the part number for the "shock recall kit". The shock itself may have it's own part number. I cannot say if the new one is more reliable than any previous. I'm sure that is debatable and subject to ones own personal experience, good or bad. You would need many data points to really say one way or another. How may of the old one failed prematurely, vs. how many of the newer one failed prematurely? I do believe that the newer one is considered a slightly better shock while it is working. I think it has a slightly stiffer spring providing the choice of using greater pre-load, and I thought I've heard that it has better rebound damping. |

Even if it's new in the box, it's actually old now. Remember that. Rubber deteriorates over time. I would vote for rebuilding your original shock for this reason. |
