OCC just built a mash-up of assorted Confederate models!

My favorite part was when Jesse said, I like my choppers but I also like my sports bikes, and I like to drag my knee on my Ducati....So why not put a Harley engine in a sport bike frame....

I couldn't stop laughing. His final "custom built by hand" bike looked like a sloppy version of an S1.

I was just watching that as well and I kept talking to the TV telling Jesse he is just recreating a Buell. Or at least attempting it.

Remember when he said, '...no one had successfully blended the two,' referring to putting an american V-twin in a sportbike. I was thinking, "Buell, you dumb ass." And for a hell of a lot less money!

I thought that was funny too Brad. How ignorant can you be being a "bike builder"?

Yep, I laughed at that as well. I NEVER vote for those reality show contest things but the Gas Monkey guys got my vote after JJ's dumb-ss american sportbike comments.

The OCC bike was interesting but you could see them straining to lift that massive chunk-o-aluminum frame. I wouldn't be surprised if their "sport-type" bike weighed as much as a typical cruiser. At least it was a bike this time.

I just like the fact that the Gas Monkey guys had a bike with a legal title that can and will be used on the streets. When they finished first and everyone else needed extra time I thought; They should show up to the build off show and say "Well, we finished before the deadline but Jesse needed more time, so we decided to just ride our bike until the other guys were done... we've put about 5,000 miles on it since then."

I've not watched any biker build offs since getting rid of Dish but my two favorite (relatively) quotes were, 1. Roland Sands saying he wanted to build a Harley powered sport bike. DUH been done. And the second was JJ taking off for the Black Hills and saying all he needed to pack was what was in his pockets and pulled out followed by an 18 wheeler. I guess all that money clouds the mind, I'd like to find out myself: )

The key i got was successfully blended so he thinks Buell was not good. I also think alot of those guys do not consider the sportster type motors as true Harley for some stupid reason ( oh its just a sportster) thats why i through in there that all mods have been accomplished they are not building anything new just reinventing the wheel.
That frame weighed 80 pounds before final milling so i guess 60 pound frame and top heavy! Whats my S1 10 pounds? Hmmm i know what i would want!
At least JJ is frabricating and making his own tranny case etc but still a dumb@@@ my vote is for GM

I weighed my 98 S1W frame and it came in at 23 lbs or was it 29? Jeeze,I can't remember (dammit old age). I am restoring a 1990 FAT BOY, and that (space age alloy) frame comes in a around 80-100 LBS.

Anyway, as far as OCC and JJ are concerned: What these guys do on TV and what we do here on planet earth are two completely different things. In my short time on this forum I have seen everything from British Leyland SU Carbs on an S1 to XB mutant conversions. I am always excited and looking forward to jumping on this board to see what will come up next. Pretty cool.

Ken,your S1 frame is probably between 40 and 50 lbs.I recently shipped an X1 frame that topped the scales at over 50 with minimal packing.

I like all the builders just do mot like the comments and thoughts that they think theyvare the first but to normal america they probably are! I like Sands version also but he did not say it was the first at least.
Jessie has def put his knee down he rides some bad ass Ducs and is a speed freak. Oh and he wears a full face helmet and gear on the sport bikes also who would have thunk!

He can try anything he wants, I just found it funny that it had already been done for years, and done well. He acted like it had never been done at all. Don't get me wrong it was a nice looking bike, even won 2006 BBO but it was familiar none the less.

But then he might have and it got edited out

I'd rather look at the amazing work on the BWB site. Some of my fave 'builders' are Buellistic, Serialk, etc : ) but I can still take time to view a RSD sporty

"He can try anything he wants, I just found it funny that it had already been done for years, and done well."

again - so because its been done before no one should do it?
Tell Erik Buell that. VTwin sportbikes have been done, and well, for years, why make 1190s?
The way you are saying these things makes it seem like if its been done before then know one else should do it again

I LOVED RS glorystomper bike, shame they couldnt do the intake in the tank thing like he wanted.

And Sands def knows about Buell, his fathers company is who made the first 6piston calipers that Buell used
Read the book, its in there.
And I THINK that he bought a Buell to play with on one of those really old episodes of the biker build off. If Im not mistaken him and his buddy just beat the crap out of it in the PM parking lot

The fact that PJD and G Munki came in 1st and 2nd proves that HD powered sportbikes are not universally accepted or popular; like we didn't already know that. I happen to think they're cool as hell, which is why I ride a Buell along w/so many of you on here.

I really liked Senior's and Jesse James' bikes, but the majority of the voters only view the American V-twin as a cruiser powerplant, hence the way the vote went down.

What I liked so much about this build-off was the variety of styles and I really liked all of them! But I would still rather see a customized Buell!

Biker i agree 100% with you. I will also throw in alot of it is popularity voting and Jr is very good at marketing himself.
My only issue was the way they acted like it was original i am ok with them doing it but damn acknowledge Buell and just say you think you can improve on it! Most of us modify our bikes to improve on it in some fashion
James had no chance as his bad publicity will follow him for years. Kinda sad because how many people out there in the world have done wrong by there spouse but he is held to a different standard .
I do not think him and garage monkey play well in the sand box

Sandra Bullock IS a 'different standard'!

Proof of his ignoramousness. Doesn't have anything to do with his bike building though.

If Sandra Bullock agreed to marry me....
Would I be out, to cheat on Her......NOT!!!

I don't care how good of a "builder" He may be.....He just ain't real smart!!!

That makes me wonder....if I would willingly spend a TON of money.....to have Him work for me, on a project.....????

I don't think so.......

Jesse got to build a bike for himself and got paid to do it. Sounds like a pretty good deal. It looked like a Wakan frame and a Buell tank were the the inspirations.

Is it just me or do I always see the influence of the Buell tube frame practically every time I see a big v-twin packaged in a sportbike chassis? Look at the lines of the front of the tank and frame on the bike above; very S1-esque. Hey, imitation is the highest form of flattery, right?

just watched the show, well it was the results show thing

I didnt see any HUGE buell influences in any of the builds other than sportbike + HD motor.

I liked three of the four bikes, didnt like Jr's bike. Just not my style.

I finally took time to watch part of it. As for Sr's 'hanging motor' my first bike - a Yamaha Seca 400 had a hanging motor. The rest of the show reminded me of a wrestling match with all the shouting, trash talk, and booing.
The old FLH was pretty, but a sportbike??? With forward controls????????

I would LOVE to roll back the throttle on JJ's bike....I will bet THAT thing MOVES!!!!
