Even though Lucifer's Hammer II is more appropriate for Old School BUELL...Lucifer's Hammer was the predecessor...so there is a connection...

For those not familiar with Lucifer's Hammer:
One previous thread
Some in progress pics

Apparently, the restoration is finished. Last week I got a calendar in the mail from 'Carolina's Biker Lawyer' and here's the picture for March:

Lucifer's Hammer from Calendar

Here's a close up of just Lucifer's Hammer (for the most part):

Lucifer's Hammer from Calendar 2

I'm disappointed that I didn't catch more pics of the restoration in progress,

Not exactly the same, but closely related. A few years ago I received a calendar (along with a lot of expensive parts) from Adrenalin Moto UK. The January photo was an S2 or S3 highly modified and called Lucifer's Hammer 3 ( I think) and it was nothing short of moto-porn. Does anybody else remember that or have any info on the build?

Duel inner rotor Motoplat ign. system, never saw that before. Leave it to Don to come up with something wild.

Also has what appears to be a front end master cylinder in back?

That rear master cylinder looks similar to the rear from my '79 sportster.

Perhaps it is from an early 80's sporty?

Actually dual motoplat ignitions are quite common on XR 750s. It also allows the tuner to change both cam and ignition timing to produce a TWINGLE firing order where both cyls. fire on the same revolution 45 degrees apart. This configuration is used on some dirt tracks to enhance traction capabilities. Yes it is very neat. Lucifers hammer II did have a Buell uniplanar tube frame. Does anyone have pics of that?

Yes, but they're not so good, scanned from old timey film pics. But they do have some history to them - taken at the old
Quonset hut in Mukwonago - heck, you can even see the old company van in the background of one of the pics.

I'm sure you want to see the bike itself, so I cropped the scanned copies:

The April 1992 issue of American Iron had an article on Lucifer's Hammer II with pics of it restored/cleaned up,

That lowered pic is in the 25 year history of Buell book and it seems that the front mount on the rear shock may be disconnected. I love that front mounted sump woud make an awsome chin spoiler also.

Exactly, you can see that the tire is hitting the rear sub frame.

Well, I had to meet someone in Statesville yesterday afternoon. It was with an ulterior motive that I suggested that we meet at Tilley's. It was wise as they arrived in Statesville about 30 minutes before I arrived, so they had something to keep them occupied.

My ulterior motive was to see Lucifer's Hammer completed.

I'd say I was successful, even though the gracious host showing me around didn't know that much about any of the bikes in the line up. I snapped as many pics as I could in the short time I had.

And as a bonus:

X1 09

X1 10

X1 11

It has been confirmed!

I guess it is kinda hard to make out that it's a Buell X1 Lightning - running 2 carbs. Definitely not as historically significant as Lucifer's Hammer (I can't even remember who rode it for Tilley's), but it was about the only Buell anything left at Tilley's shop (except for some pictures/posters of race Buell's in the dealership and an '09 1125R that was in the shop apparently waiting for PDI and setup).

After a little research, Number 87 was typically Tripp Nobles, so I'm gonna have to assume it was ridden by Tripp. Interestingly, one of my first run-ins with Tripp was at the old Tilley's shop in Statesville when he was the 'Buell guy' at the dealership either during my move to NC or shortly after I had moved to NC. He took me upstairs and showed me the updated 'Have a nice day' ad/video with an XB Lightning instead of the original with an X1 Lightning.

I had wondered if anyone would actually check out this updated, archived thread.
