So what do you guys use to adjust the preload on the replacement, enclosed spring Showa shock? The large adjuster is REALLY large. Looks like about 55mm or 2 1/8 - 2-1/4". I dont have anything that large in my toolbox. My big crescent wrench doesnt even open enough. | ||

I have used one of those strap wrenches you get at the kitchen gadget area of your favorite store; the ones for removing stuck jar lids. On my X-1, I just turn the whole shock body. I think I had an adjustable big enough for the lock nut. Hope this helps, Dave | ||

I got this wrench from a friend who bought it to use on his Cyclone shock.It's a Ridgid E-110,plumbers wrench from Home Depot.It will open to 2.5".Plenty wide enough for the shock. | ||

I've got a spanner from the local hardware store, might have been Home Depot (in the plumbing section,) that fits the big hex for adjusting the shock. I had to go to Harbor Freight to get a really big adjustable wrench for the jam nut. The BFW cost me about $29. I had my rear shock rebuilt recently by Race Tech but couldn't break the jam nut loose when I got it back. My bench vice and the BFW from Harbor Freight solved that. |
