I have a 95 S2 that I bought with a Supertrapp muffler on it. I dont have the original brackets if there were any. Ive found a stainless 96 S1 muffler with the Z bracket. My question is will this work & bolt on my 95 S2 ? I thought maybe the S1 header was bigger then the S2

No, it won't fit. Your S2 has a header that includes a 90 degree bend at the end and fits a muffler that is straight. An S1 header ends before the 90 degree bend and its muffler has the bend attached.

Sporty this is incorrect a 96 s1 header ends then there is an elbow that joins the muffler it may fit but i doubt that all the brackets would line up

Sporty is correct.

The third piece / removable elbow is an aftermarket piece. No factory exhaust ever had a third piece.

95/96 S2: 2" collector, pointed at the rear tire (elbow on the header)

96-98 S1, M2, and 97 S3 (pre-thunderstorm) - 2" collector, pointed across the bike. Elbow is a part of the muffler.

98-up thunderstorm motor bikes - same as above, but with a 2.5" collector pointed across the bike.

Buell race exhaust - ALL race exhausts were rear-facing 2.5" collectors, elbow is part of the header.

To the OP: The S1W header has the larger collector. The 'regular' S1 has a 2" collector...but it's in the wrong place for your S2. An early S1 header WILL fit onto your S2 (you may have to fiddle with the air cleaner a bit), and allow you to run a later muffler. If the muffler you found is stainless, though, it's probably a 2.5" S1W or S3 muffler. The early S1 mufflers were painted black steel.

Is the 95 S2 muffler the only one that will bolt on then ? Did they have the straps around the muffler or just bolt on. I appreciate the help, Im trying to collect the parts to put this back to original if I ever want to sell it. Is there any other pieces Id need besides the muffler ? Does the Supertrapp thats on it make that big a difference, it sure sounds good & runs good ? I dont want anything jury rigged, I want the correct pieces.

Nothing wrong with the Supertrapp. It uses a couple of one inch long pieces of flatbar, as I recall.
Original exhausts are hard to find, ugly, and heavy. The original uses the Z bracket.

I have no intention of changing to the stock muffler, I just want one just to have it. I just need to know what will fit
