Hi I am new to this fine site and to Buells.
I began street riding in 1976 but have recently changed to street Bikes, starting with a Yam YZF 600 then a Honda VTR 1000 and most recently a Buell 1996 S1.
I really love the Buell but have a few questions and hope someone can help with them.
#1 will a 1998 S1 front end (forks brackets, guages etc) fit a 1996 S1?
#2 Where can I get a manifold and other parts needed to mount a S & S super E carb. (I already have the Carb, air filter bracket and Air filter cover.
#3 Where is the best palce to get a Forcewinder air filter system.
#4 what sterring dampner do you all recommend (my bike currently can develope some wobble)

Thanks
Jeff

Trusting you've already checked tire pressure and suspension for wear and proper adjustment... I know the Storz damper is a good unit.

I added one to my bike for track and canyon use in '07, has been good.

Welcome to Badweb.

Yes, the 98 front end will fit.
Skip the Super E, the stock Keihn if tuned properly is just as good on a stock motor. Nothing to be gained by switching except more $$ for cables, etc.
Loki is right, check the head bearings. If they are "notchy" replace them. Make sure they are tensioned properly, too loose can cause head shake. Cupped tires will too (my Uly has that problem right now, cupped front tire. Never a problem with a new tire..).

Hi Guys
thanks for the input and knowledge.

For the wobble, I don't feel anything notchy in the bearing but am going to take her apart and inspect/replace bearings. My tires are new.

Thanks for the 1996-1998 parts interchange.

So the super e is no better then the stock carb, disapointing kind of but certainly easier and less expensive to leave it.

Thanks for the help
Jeff

If the head bearings are not dinged and notchy, make sure the preload is correct.
