Its down for resto now, I'm repainting the entire bike.

It's a 96 frame
xb stage3 heads, xb12 pistons and cyl's, bigger cam. Xb12 primary sprockets
rear sets
Xb wheel conversion
Firebolt forks and handlebars/triple tree.
Veypor gauge

Just wondering when it's all put back together and nice and mean looking, what could I realistically get for it? I may be willing to let it go if its worth it for me.

My guess, and i am no expert, but maybe $5,000 tops? Everyone who customizes car or bikes no that you don't do it for resale because you never make your money back on it. I would look at what other stellar looking S-1's are going for, maybe add a thousands bucks or so for the work and it being nicely custom and different and that's about it. Like i said please someone else correct me if i'm wrong, but that's just what i think.

It's only worth as much as someone is willing to pay. I bought mine for $7,500. And I didn't hesitate to pay that. S1 are rare and nice ones are even more rare.
I still haven't seen another S1 in B.C.

A low mile 98 S3 that was near me recently sold on Ebay for 2200 after being listed twice. The Buells hold their value about as well as Corvettes. I know, since I own 1 of each.

btw, I always chuckle when I read ads for Harleys where the owner says he has "invested" $30,000 (or so) in it. That's like a crackhead saying he has invested $30,000 in crack cocaine.

The Buells hold their value about as well as Corvettes.

A friend of mine sold two recently, a '63 split window $45,000 and a '67-427 for $33,000.

I think tube framed Buells Value wont be seen as an investment until there are less of them... and even less mint ones. the blue book on them is pretty much the going rate of the engine alone

still trying to figure out what color scheme i want to go with, and weather or not im going to paint or powder

i was thinking something like... darker red with maybe some tiny glitters on the frame/wheels, and do all the body work in a vanilla creme white. all the small stuff in black (shift linkage, headlight brackets etc.) what do you guys think about that?

Terrycoxusa didn't quite complete his statement what he meant was Buells are worth what Corvettes with the year ending in 4 are worth.

Pretty lean market, you'd get more for it stock than with all the mods, as cool as they are.

I'm unlikely to ever sell my M2 with X1 forks and S1 tail, simply because I could never recover my cost in the mods... and now it's just the bike I wanted, so I cannot expect it to be worth as much to someone else.

That's the biggest risk in customizing something as far as I can tell - unless your work is absolutely perfect - you will never see back what you put into it... unless you are building a bike for the market and not for yourself.

I'd expect maybe somewhere in the range of $3500-4200 due to the value of the motor work... depending on how the paint turns out.

I'm in the market for an S1 early next year. I don't necessarily want an S1W; more important to me is (1) all original except consumables (2) fairly low mileage, and (3) clean.

Tubers will go up eventually, first of all the 1200RS and RSS models, then the S1 and S2 bikes. But the key is original, not modified.

I will probably have to spend close to $5K for such an S1, and it won't be easy to find one to start with as so many have been modified, painted, customized, and destroyed.

I'll be going for clean and fresh, with the current mods in place. i had planned for more engine mods in the future, but they will have to be on the next build down the road.

by re-doing all the bushings, mounts, and cleaning up the frame/wheels/accessories with new paint/powder i think this bike would bring someone years of tuber fun with a fraction of the price of a new bike. Just hoping theirs that buyer that wants something retro, semi-modern, and with a large thump.
