I recall recently seeing a replacement bulb for the S2's that was the same as a car bulb.
Anyone recall the details?

I had a bulb blow up on the S2 yesterday.
The envelope popped and as a pile of shards in the bottom of the lense assembly.
I hope the chunks bouncing around didn't mess up the inside and remove the silvering.

Thanks much!

Brad

Brad,
Are these what you're thinking of?
(those links didn't link)
There is a bulb and a headlight conversion lens on the americansportbike web site under the S2 section.

Brad,
S2s just use a standard high/low sealed beam headlight available at any auto parts store or wal mart. You replace the whole assembly not the bulb. Should cost about $8.

Dan,
You da man!
I knew I heard something to the effect.
I'll pull the old one and get a comparable unit.
I'll post pic's and info if warranted.

JC Whitney and others sell a bulb housing that will fit and allow the use of the Halogen bulbs of any wattage.... Mine was about $24 and bulbs are from $6- up...... The S3 housing is too small

Brad, get the change over as you can get hi-watt bulbs dirt cheap that will peal paint off the back of a car.Got one out of a junk yard one time looking for a car part.Seems a bunch of cars and chvy trucks used the same style/size with bulb.

This link should work. http://www.americansportbike.com/shop/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?usr=51F6214190&rnd=2202 988&rrc=N&affl=&cip=69.160.138.75&act=&aff=&pg=prod&ref=PROD290&cat=&catstr=

What I've found is that if you navigate to the product, a link doesn't work. But if you do a search on the product, it does. Why, I have no idea.

The sealed beam bulb is a standard 6 x 8 inch (actual diamensions are slightly smaller) dual beam available everywhere including Walmarts.....

Thanks for the info guys.
I pulled it apart this evening. A previous owner must have replace the original bulb as it now has one with a replaceable 9003 type element.
It has a clear front with no inner fluted lense elements.
It was damaged a bit by the old bulb shards rattling around for 200 miles or so.
Couldn't be helped as it happened on the way to the races. No way to fix it before returning home.
Some of the inner silver coating was fogged by bouncing quartz and also from the initial flash when it let loose.
I was able to clean out most of the mess but it should be replace sometime down the road.

Al, you'll get the call when the time comes.
I'll probably wait till I park it for the winter.

Brad
