Ive had my X1 since 2004.

Here is a quick pictorial progression...

Again, i did another facelift last week. I will be posting some new pics this week.

Current Mods (not pictured).

Aesthetics:
-Blacked out Bates Style headlight mounted to hand fabed bracket(i dubbed the bracket The Creature)
-Painted black upper/lower trees and fork bottoms
-Removed gauges and run a small speedo
-Dirt bike handle bars
-Tail section is now almost a flat black.
-Semi gloss black cut down cam cover (hand hacked by me) and primary
-Tail section moded to except SV tailight
-Carbon fiber tank accents
-Homemade bar end turn signals on front and put led signal strip on rear license plate
-Air filter for a ricer mounted on carb
-Bed linered lower chin fairing
-Hidden turn signal switch and headlight on/off switch
-Had a user on another site water jet a set of EBR heal guards i drew up and measured.
-Tank is now a white patina finish
-Rizoma rearview
-Bed linered swing arm
-NHRS billet push rod blocks

Performance:
-D&D can with Pro Series race headers
-Converted to Carb
-HSR42 Carb
-Crane single fire ignition
-NGK spark plugs (went a heat range hotter than recommended because i run it a little on the richer than it was with stock EFI)
-NHRS 1250 kit with forged pistons-
-Intake port de-burring by me and slight polish on exhaust ports by me.
-Variable Pressure Clutch
-Jet Hot coated headers
-Homemade 12 cell A123 battery pack
-Moded wiring harness to dump unneeded wires after dumping EFI
-Homemade oil catch can
-Pirelli Diablo Corsa III tires

Well thats all i can recall. will post pics of the new look soon. Glad to be back on this site!

i'm planning do what you have done with the D&D and Pro series headers, it's just bolt on ? what about performance ??

Please don't say you painted over those red stripe plastics or cut the fly screen...
If not, willing to part with them at a reasonable price?

Welcome back Will,

Sharp looking bike, I like the swingarm treatment a lot and dig the dirt bike bars and the SV tail lights are a cool touch I like as well, and your performance mods are the sort that make a great engine...

...but when I read "-Bed linered lower chin fairing" I felt sick.

Putting it kindly, ruining an apparently pristine set of Red Stripe body work is too bad. I'm really hoping you found someone else's take-off's to paint up.

I tried to sell an extra chin fairing here for a while last year but had no takers, it hangs in my garage, still waiting for that one special person I guess.

Sorry gentlemen the red stripe body work is gone. Parted ways with it a few years ago. Plastics were pretty bad from moving the bike across country multiple times. All the current plastics are painted with the exception of the lower chin. The lower chine fairing is bed linered because i was hoping it would hold up to rocks and the oil i leaks i have once a month. I will admit i miss the red strip sometimes and the slight wind protection a fly screen can offer but im real happy with my new setup. Ill be posting pics tomorrow.

To answer the question about the headers. Yes they are just bolt on along with the can. Problem is you might experience a hotter than usual leg (from the rear pipe) because the bike will run a little leaner. Mine is fine because its carbed and i tuned it but i would recommend a small tune with ECM spy on yours if its EFI (not completely necessary).

PM's go to the email account you list in your profile when you create your account. Just go in to edit your profile if you have changed email accounts since you started your profile here in '05.

If your email hasn't changed check your spam folder (on your e-mail), I've had to tell Yahoo multiple times that emails from this site are okay. Various service providers may filter differently.

Nate, real nice X1 you got there. I dig the blacked out forks with the rest of your set up. anodized? painted? Those xb rims are amazing with the black. How did you make the rear wheel work with the X1 swinger?

Here are my updated pics. Bike needs a bath and i have some stuff i still need to take care of ie...front pulley needs to be painted, do something with my catch can, clean up wiring, cover my homemade battery with something, maybe black out my header.

I will take a pic as soon as possible of what i did. But to answer your questions; I kept the bar mounted run/start switch on the bars; There is a three way toggle switch for my turn signals and an on/ off switch for my light mounted to a piece of flat stock hidden underneath my left carbon fiber tank cover. Its hidden and i can reach the switches with my left hand while riding; The battery i made from 12 A123 batteries purchased on ebay (google diy speedcell). I did three separate 12volt arrangements in parallel in order to achieve enough cranking amps. Essential i made three separate battery packs with four batteries in each pack, then joined them separately to the terminal connector. Each single battery is about 3.3 volts so their voltage adds up as you put them in series with one another. Most inline four bikes get away with a pack made from eight batteries (two separate formations of four of course). I forgot how much amps each battery puts out and what it all adds up to because it was awhile ago i figured it all out but trust me when i say a buell needs three banks. I wouldn't go anymore otherwise you risk making your starter strip something because you sent too much amps at it. Hopefully tat was not too confusing but if so there is tons of info out there and EBR also sells a pretty version in nice little plastic container using the same method i described.

These battery packs are real light. Like two pounds or so i believe for the whole setup.

Cool. I will search that! I added a 1/4 turn throttle on mine and used these switches to get rid of the bulky factory set
