So, i snagged an old recall WP fork off evilbay, i'm right at 170 all geared up, and the spring rate/sag feels spot on to me, suits the front WP forks nicely too....

discuss.

Not a fan at all of the Showa.

My Showa with RaceTech guts is exceptional, as far as performance. The way it's actually built is something else. The bushing around the collar will wear out over time and there is no replacement available. Aesthetically it's ugly as hell, too. The entire design seems like a bit of an afterthought.

I prefer the old school WP. With that said, if you don't know the history of your shock, I recommend having someone like race tech go through it, so you can start fresh. Keep in mind that it is at least 14 years old.

My understanding is the WP could not be properly set up for riders over 200lbs (there were other reasons given for the recall as well and the information is readily available on the web).

I had mine re-valved and re-sprung with a spring better suited for my weight. Very, very happy with it so far.

Of course this is my experience and opinion, others may have a different take on this...

Good Luck!

If you want it to handle like a ROAD RACER,get another shock and you have to up-date the front forks too !!!

Do not forget that you must also tune your suspension to handle the power and speed your engine(have to tune ENG. too)can put out !!!

Me, "i" just tuned my OEM suspension ...
