So I had a car plow into the side of me in a parking lot and mash up my D&D header (my foot and a air box). As crushed as I was when I called D&D and heard they only sell both head pipes a a set for $450, the big problem was I’d have to wait two weeks before they ship. Out of all the bikes I have the Tuber is my favorite and I was impatient. So I went to a muffler shop got a take off section of pipe from a Ford Focus and spliced it in. I now have a Frank'n Ford/Buell, American!   (Message edited by Buell_train on October 10, 2012) | ||

Wow, nice "Felix" bike. Does the shock cover also change color? Dig the timer cover. The brake pedal could be made to match the Drive Support. Maybe a little too cutesy. Or maybe dimple and paint and the swingarm pivot covers to match the timer cover. Really nice bike! | ||

The shock cover rotates on it's own. Could be exsasserbaited when I ride passengers? The timing cover was just a sportster part I drilled holes into. I'm going to ditch the red on the drive cover. The air box was a Buell upgrade part, for a carb bike. I just adapted it for the FI. It's carbon fiber. All the mechanical fixes since I’ve owned it (one year) Like I said, I love the bike but it has been a love/ hate relationship. Luckily I am a mechanic with my own shop and tools. But I probably have more money into parts than the bike is worth! Replace oil pump drive gear with bronze Replace stator Replace Front ISO rubber Replace shifter bushings Replace recall front rotor Replace a snapped belt Replace two front snapped exhaust bolts All new rings and head gaskets and base gaskets push rod towers re-built master cylinders and caliper seals. New battery new 02 sensor new intake seals new throttle body new tps new fuel pump replaced worn oil lines re-built front forks replaced blown rear shock repair exhaust pipes clutch throw out bearing clutch cable clutch plates (Message edited by buell_train on October 10, 2012) | ||

The preload isn't self adjusting as the shock cover rotates is it? Hope not... mine did out at the race track once, the locknut came loose and the whole shock rotated 180 degrees before I caught it. | ||

My "year of mods" had me putting enough money into mine to have purchased a used XB. It is ugly but runs good, handles as well as anything I've rode, and is as fun as a street bike can be. After over a decade of ownership I'd like to have been riding more and fixing a bit less...but at least most things are simple, inexpensive, and routine these days. Nice bike. | ||

I replaced the bend with a new section. The original pipe was creased on both sides. | ||

I went to a muffler shop with a mandrel bender, got two sections bent and it cost me $10. I gave him $20. I try and support local shops as much as possible! |
